Chemical vapor deposition for automatic processing of integrated circuits

Chemical vapor deposition for automatic processing of integrated circuits including the wafer carrier and loading from a receiving air track into automatic furnaces and unloading on to a sending air track is discussed. Passivation using electron beam deposited quartz is also considered.

Thermally grown oxide and diffusions for automatic processing of integrated circuits

A totally automated facility for semiconductor oxidation and diffusion was developed using a state-of-the-art diffusion furnace and high temperature grown oxides. Major innovations include: (1) a process controller specifically for semiconductor processing; (2) an automatic loading system to accept wafers from an air track, insert them into a quartz carrier and then place the carrier on a paddle for insertion into the furnace; (3) automatic unloading of the wafers back onto the air track, and (4) boron diffusion using diborane with plus or minus 5 percent uniformity. Processes demonstrated include Wet and dry oxidation for general use and for gate oxide, boron diffusion, phosphorous diffusion, and sintering.

Automatic Processing of Intensives at GSFC VLBI Analysis Center

VLBI Intensive (INT) sessions are conducted to determine the change in Earth rotation, which is measured as a correction to UT1. This correction varies unpredictably over time. Because UT1 is used in precise navigation, particularly GNSS, rapid turnaround is very important. The decrease of time elapsed from observations to obtained results can be shortened with the automatic data processing of new INT sessions at the analysis stage.

Automatic processing system for shadowgraph and interference patterns

The design and operation of an automatic system for the processing of shadowgraph and interference images are described. The system includes a two-coordinate processing table with an optical system for the projection of transparent images onto the photodetector, an image filter in the photodetector field, and a device for controlling the movement of the table and transmitting information to the minicomputer.

Semi-automatic process partitioning for parallel computation

On current multiprocessor architectures one must carefully distribute data in memory in order to achieve high performance. Process partitioning is the operation of rewriting an algorithm as a collection of tasks, each operating primarily on its own portion of the data, to carry out the computation in parallel. A semi-automatic approach to process partitioning is considered in which the compiler, guided by advice from the user, automatically transforms programs into such an interacting task system. This approach is illustrated with a picture processing example written in BLAZE, which is transformed into a task system maximizing locality of memory reference.

Separation of terbium from proton-irradiated gadolinium oxide targets – development of an effective, scalable and automatable process

This work reports an effective and scalable radiochemical separation process for isolating terbium from Gd 2 O 3 . The separation process uses three commercially available extraction chromatography resin columns, has been implemented on a computer-controlled chemistry module, and tested with 100 mg quantities of proton-irradiated nat Gd 2 O 3 . Here, the 4-hour separation procedure isolated radioterbium in 1.3 mL of 0.01 M HCl with 80 ±8% radiochemical yield and a Gd decontamination factor >(1.2 ± 0.3)·10 5 .

Automatic Processing of Reactive Polymers

A series of process modeling computer codes were examined. The codes use finite element techniques to determine the time-dependent process parameters operative during nonisothermal reactive flows such as can occur in reaction injection molding or composites fabrication. The use of these analytical codes to perform experimental control functions is examined; since the models can determine the state of all variables everywhere in the system, they can be used in a manner similar to currently available experimental probes. A small but well instrumented reaction vessel in which fiber-reinforced plaques are cured using computer control and data acquisition was used. The finite element codes were also extended to treat this particular process.
