Improved phase-shift-keyed detector
Improved phase-shift-keyed detector contains an active filter circuit which uses an operational amplifier and resistor-capacitor network. The detector is used in the Saturn space vehicle and Apollo telescope mount command systems to translate an analog signal from the command receiver into digital information for the command decoder.

Improved liquid-level sensor for cryogenics
Liquid-level indicator, consisting of a diode heated by a resistor, allows simultaneous use of two or three of the liquids nitrogen, hydrogen, and helium. Operation depends on strong temperature-dependence of the forward resistance of a germanium diode and the difference between liquid and vapor in heat-transfer properties.

Punch-magnet delay eliminated by modification of circuit
Reduction of retardation by diode-resistor networks of the current-decay time of a punch magnet by connection of a Zener diode in series with the damping network increases the reliability of data on paper tape.

Concept for improved vacuum pressure measuring device
To measure vacuum pressures in the range of 5 times 10 to the minus 7 to 5 times 10 to the minus 16, a semiconductor resistor composed of sintered zinc oxide is used. Through the effect of surface absorbed gases on the resistance of the semiconductor material, very low pressures are measured.

Fuse protects circuit from voltage and current overloads
Low-melting resistor connected in series with the load protects the circuit against current overloads. It protects test subjects and patients being monitored by electronic instrumentation from inadvertant overloads of current, and sensitive electronic equipment against high-voltage damage.

Simplified method for measuring the impedance of RF power sources - A concept
Bolometer detector and bridge circuit measure the RF power. A varied bridge reference resistor achieves maximum power transfer allowing the output impedance of the RF source to be determined from the known circuit parameters.

Two terminal current limiter
Two terminal device protects dc electronic circuits and experimental solid state devices, and replaces fuses and circuit breakers directly. The device consists of two transistors and two resistors and draws its necessary supply voltage from power source being protected. The limiter acts as a voltage regulator.

Switching circuit utilizing silicon controlled rectifier reduces input power requirements normally associated with testing power semiconductors in an operational type mode. Circuit breaker consists of a preset current amplitude sensor, and a lamp-photo-resistor combination in a feedback arrangement which energizes a power switching relay. The ac input power is removed from the load at predetermined current amplitudes.

Lamp modulator provides signal magnitude indication
Lamp modulator provides visible indication of presence and magnitude of an audio signal carrying voice or data. It can be made to reflect signal variations of up to 32 decibels. Lamp life is increased by use of a bypass resistor to prevent filament failure.
