Search for J / ψ weak decays containing a D meson

Using a sample of about 10 billion J / ψ events with the BESIII detector, we search for the weak decays of J / ψ → D ¯ 0 π 0 + c . c . , J / ψ → D ¯ 0 η + c . c . , J / ψ → D ¯ 0 ρ 0 + c . c . , J / ψ → D − π + + c . c . , and J / ψ → D − ρ + + c . c . . Since no significant signal is observed, we set the upper limits of the branching fractions of these decays to be B ( J / ψ → D ¯ 0 π 0 + c . c . ) < 4.7 × 10 − 7 , B ( J / ψ → D ¯ 0 η + c . c . ) < 6.8 × 10 − 7 , B ( J / ψ → D ¯ 0 ρ 0 + c . c . ) < 5.2 × 10 − 7 , B ( J / ψ → D − π + + c . c . ) < 7.0 × 10 − 8 , and B ( J / ψ → D − ρ + + c . c . ) < 6.0 × 10 − 7 at the 90% confidence level. Precise Measurement of Born Cross Sections for e + e − → D D ¯ at s = 3.80 − 4.95 GeV

Using data samples collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider at center-of-mass energies ranging from 3.80 to 4.95 GeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 20 fb − 1 , a measurement of Born cross sections for the e + e − → D 0 D ¯ 0 and D + D − processes is presented with unprecedented precision. Many clear peaks in the line shape of e + e − → D 0 D ¯ 0 and D + D − around the mass range of G ( 3900 ) , ψ ( 4040 ) , ψ ( 4160 ) , Y ( 4260 ) , and ψ ( 4415 ) , etc., are foreseen. These results offer crucial experimental insights into the nature of hadron production in the open-charm region. Published by the American Physical Society 2024

Search for C -even states decaying to D s ± D s * ∓ with masses between 4.08 and 4.32 GeV / c 2

Six C -even states, denoted as X , with quantum numbers J P C = 0 − + , 1 ± + , or 2 ± + , are searched for via the e + e − → γ D s ± D s * ∓ process using ( 1667.39 ± 8.84 ) pb − 1 of e + e − collision data collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring at center-of-mass energy of s = ( 4681.92 ± 0.30 ) MeV . No statistically significant signal is observed in the mass range from 4.08 GeV / c 2 to 4.32 GeV / c 2 . The upper limits of σ [ e + e − → γ X ] · B [ X → D s ± D s * ∓ ] at a 90% confidence level are determined. Published by the American Physical Society 2024

Study of the decays χ c J → Λ Λ ¯ ϕ

Based on ( 2712.4 ± 14.3 ) × 10 6 e + e − → ψ ( 3686 ) events collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII Collider, we report the first evidence of χ c 0 → Λ Λ ¯ ϕ decays and the first observation of χ c 1 , 2 → Λ Λ ¯ ϕ decays, with significances of 4.1 σ , 11.3 σ and 13.0 σ , respectively. The decay branching fractions of χ c 0 , 1 , 2 → Λ Λ ¯ ϕ are measured to be ( 2.99 ± 1.24 ± 0.19 ) × 10 − 5 , ( 6.01 ± 0.90 ± 0.40 ) × 10 − 5 , and ( 7.13 ± 0.81 ± 0.36 ) × 10 − 5 , where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. No obvious enhancement near the Λ Λ ¯ production threshold or excited Λ state is found in the Λ ϕ (or Λ ¯ ϕ ) system. Published by the American Physical Society 2024

Search for the e + e − → ϕ χ c 1 ( 3872 ) process at BESIII

Based on 368.5 p b − 1 of e + e − collision data collected at center-of-mass energies 4.914 and 4.946 GeV by the BESIII detector, the e + e − → ϕ χ c 1 ( 3872 ) process is searched for the first time. No significant signal is observed and the upper limits at the 90% confidence level on the product of the Born cross section σ ( e + e − → ϕ χ c 1 ( 3872 ) ) and the branching fraction B [ χ c 1 ( 3872 ) → π + π − J / ψ ] at 4.914 and 4.946 GeV are set to be 0.85 and 0.96 pb, respectively. These measurements provide useful information for the production of the χ c 1 ( 3872 ) at e + e − colliders and deepen our understanding about the nature of this particle. Precision measurement of the branching fraction of J / ψ → K + K − via ψ ( 2 S ) → π + π − J / ψ

Using a sample of 448.1 × 10 6 ψ ( 2 S ) events collected with the BESIII detector, we perform a study of the decay J / ψ → K + K − via ψ ( 2 S ) → π + π − J / ψ . The branching fraction of J / ψ → K + K − is determined to be B K + K − = ( 3.072 ± 0.023 ( stat ) ± 0.050 ( syst ) ) × 10 − 4 , which is consistent with previous measurements but with significantly improved precision. Study of e + e − → π + π − π 0 at s from 2.00 to 3.08 GeV at BESIII

With the data samples taken at center-of-mass energies from 2.00 to 3.08 GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, a partial wave analysis on the e + e − → π + π − π 0 process is performed. The Born cross sections for e + e − → π + π − π 0 and its intermediate processes e + e − → ρ π and ρ ( 1450 ) π are measured as functions of s . The results for e + e − → π + π − π 0 are consistent with previous results measured with the initial state radiation method within one standard deviation, and improve the uncertainty by a factor of ten. By fitting the line shapes of the Born cross sections for the e + e − → ρ π and e + e − → ρ ( 1450 ) π , a structure with mass M = 2119 ± 11 ± 15 MeV / c 2 and width Γ = 69 ± 30 ± 5 MeV is observed with a significance of 5.9 σ , where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second ones are systematic. This structure can be interpreted as an excited ω state. Published by the American Physical Society 2024

Search for diphoton decays of an axionlike particle in radiative J / ψ decays

We search for the diphoton decay of a light pseudoscalar axionlike particle, a , in radiative J / ψ decays, using 10 10 J / ψ events collected with the BESIII detector. We find no evidence of a signal and set upper limits at the 95% confidence level on the product branching fraction B ( J / ψ → γ a ) × B ( a → γ γ ) and the axionlike particle photon coupling constant g a γ γ in the ranges of ( 3.7 – 48.5 ) × 10 − 8 and ( 2.2 – 101.8 ) × 10 − 4 GeV − 1 , respectively, for 0.18 ≤ m a ≤ 2.85 GeV / c 2 . Improved measurement of the branching fraction of hc → γη′/η and search for hc → γπ0

Abstract The processesh c → γP(P=η′, η, π 0 ) are studied with a sample of (27.12±0.14)×10 8 ψ(3686) events collected by the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider. The decayh c → γηis observed for the first time with the significance of 9.0σ, and the branching fraction is determined to be (3.77±0.55±0.13±0.26)×10 −4 , while$$ \mathcal{B} $$ B (h c → γη′) is measured to be (1.40±0.11±0.04±0.10)×10 −3 , where the first uncertainties are statistical, the second systematic, and the third from the branching fraction ofψ(3686)→ π 0 h c . The combination of these results allows for a precise determination of$$ {R}_{h_c}=\frac{\mathcal{B}\left({h}_c\to {\pi}^0\gamma \eta \right)}{\mathcal{B}\left({h}_c\to {\pi}^0\gamma {\eta}^{\prime}\right)}, $$ R h c = B h c → γη B h c → γ η ′ , which is calculated to be (27.0±4.4±1.0)%. The results are valuable for gaining a deeper understanding ofη − η′ mixing, and its manifestation within quantum chromodynamics. No significant signal is found for the decayh c →γπ 0 , and an upper limit is placed on its branching fraction of$$ \mathcal{B} $$ B (h c →γπ 0 )<5.0×10 −5 , at the 90% confidence level.

Amplitude analysis of the decays and *

Abstract Usingannihilation data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.93taken at the center-of-mass energyGeV with the BESIII detector, a joint amplitude analysis is performed on the decaysand(non-η). The fit fractions of individual components are obtained, and large interferences among the dominant components of the decays,,, andare observed in both channels. With the obtained amplitude model, the-even fractions ofand(non-η) are determined to be% and%, respectively. The branching fractions ofand(non-η) are measured to be% and%, respectively. The amplitude analysis provides an important model for the binning strategy in measuring the strong phase parameters ofwhen used to determine the CKM anglevia thedecay.

Search for the radiative transition χ c 1 ( 3872 ) → γ ψ 2 ( 3823 )

Using 9.0 f b − 1 of e + e − collision data collected at center-of-mass energies from 4.178 to 4.278 GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, we perform the first search for the radiative transition χ c 1 ( 3872 ) → γ ψ 2 ( 3823 ) . No signal is observed and the upper limit on the ratio of branching fractions B ( χ c 1 ( 3872 ) → γ ψ 2 ( 3823 ) , ψ 2 ( 3823 ) → γ χ c 1 ) / B ( χ c 1 ( 3872 ) → π + π − J / ψ ) is set at 0.075 at the 90% confidence level. Our result contradicts theoretical predictions under the assumption that the χ c 1 ( 3872 ) is the pure charmonium state χ c 1 ( 2 P ) . Published by the American Physical Society 2024
