Measurements of the branching fractions of semileptonic D s + decays via e + e − → D s * + D s * −

We measure the absolute branching fractions of semileptonic D s + decays via the e + e − → D s * + D s * − process using e + e − collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 10.64 fb − 1 collected by the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies between 4.237 and 4.699 GeV. The branching fractions are B ( D s + → η e + ν e ) = ( 2.35 ± 0.11 stat ± 0.10 syst ) % , B ( D s + → η ′ e + ν e ) = ( 0.82 ± 0.09 stat ± 0.04 syst ) % , B ( D s + → ϕ e + ν e ) = ( 2.21 ± 0.16 stat ± 0.11 syst ) % , B ( D s + → f 0 ( 980 ) e + ν e , f 0 ( 980 ) → π + π − ) = ( 0.15 ± 0.02 stat ± 0.01 syst ) % , B ( D s + → K 0 e + ν e ) = ( 0.24 ± 0.0 4 stat ± 0.0 1 syst ) % , and B ( D s + → K * 0 e + ν e ) = ( 0.19 ± 0.0 3 stat ± 0.0 1 syst ) % . These results are consistent with those measured via the e + e − → D s * ± D s ∓ process by BESIII and CLEO. Using two-parameter series expansion, the hadronic transition form factors of D s + → η e + ν e , D s + → η ′ e + ν e , and D s + → K 0 e + ν e are determined to be f + η ( 0 ) = 0.442 ± 0.02 2 stat ± 0.01 7 syst , f + η ′ ( 0 ) = 0.557 ± 0.06 2 stat ± 0.02 4 syst , and f + K 0 ( 0 ) = 0.677 ± 0.09 8 stat ± 0.02 3 syst . Study of the Decay and Production Properties of D s 1 ( 2536 ) and D s 2 * ( 2573 )

The e + e − → D s + D s 1 ( 2536 ) − and e + e − → D s + D s 2 * ( 2573 ) − processes are studied using data samples collected with the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies from 4.530 to 4.946 GeV. The absolute branching fractions of D s 1 ( 2536 ) − → D ¯ * 0 K − and D s 2 * ( 2573 ) − → D ¯ 0 K − are measured for the first time to be ( 35.9 ± 4.8 ± 3.5 ) % and ( 37.4 ± 3.1 ± 4.6 ) % , respectively. The e + e − → D s + D s 1 ( 2536 ) − and e + e − → D s + D s 2 * ( 2573 ) − cross sections are measured, and a resonant structure at around 4.6 GeV with a width of 50 MeV is observed in both processes with a statistical significance of 7.2 σ and 15 σ , respectively. The state is observed for the first time in e + e − → D s + D s 2 * ( 2573 ) − and could be the Y ( 4626 ) found by the Belle oration in the D s + D s 1 ( 2536 ) − final state, since they have similar masses and widths. There is also evidence for a structure at around 4.75 GeV in both processes. Published by the American Physical Society 2024

Search for X ( 3872 ) → π 0 π 0 χ c 1 , 2

Using 10.1 fb − 1 of e + e − collision data collected by the BESIII detector with center-of-mass energies between 4.15 GeV and 4.30 GeV, we search for the decays X ( 3872 ) → π 0 π 0 χ c 1 , 2 , where the X ( 3872 ) is produced in e + e − → γ X ( 3872 ) . Extracting the femtometer structure of strange baryons using the vacuum polarization effect

Abstract One of the fundamental goals of particle physics is to gain a microscopic understanding of the strong interaction. Electromagnetic form factors quantify the structure of hadrons in terms of charge and magnetization distributions. While the nucleon structure has been investigated extensively, data on hyperons are still scarce. It has recently been demonstrated that electron-positron annihilations into hyperon-antihyperon pairs provide a powerful tool to investigate their inner structure. We present a method useful for hyperon-antihyperon pairs of different types which exploits the cross section enhancement due to the effect of vacuum polarization at theJ/ψresonance. Using the 10 billionJ/ψevents collected with the BESIII detector, this allows a precise determination of the hyperon structure function. The result is essentially a precise snapshot of the$$\bar{\Lambda }{\Sigma }^{0}\,(\Lambda {\bar{\Sigma }}^{0})$$ Λ ¯ Σ 0 ( Λ Σ ¯ 0 ) transition process, encoded in the transition form factor ratio and phase. Their values are measured to beR = 0.860 ± 0.029(stat.) ± 0.015(syst.),$$\Delta {\Phi }_{\bar{\Lambda }{\Sigma }^{0}}=(1.011\pm 0.094({{\rm{stat.}}})\pm 0.010({{\rm{syst.}}}))\,{{\rm{r}}}ad$$ Δ Φ Λ ¯ Σ 0 = ( 1.011 ± 0.094 ( stat. ) ± 0.010 ( syst. ) ) r a d and$$\Delta {\Phi }_{\Lambda {\bar{\Sigma }}^{0}}=(2.128\pm 0.094({{\rm{stat.}}})\pm 0.010({{\rm{syst.}}}))\,{{\rm{r}}}ad$$ Δ Φ Λ Σ ¯ 0 = ( 2.128 ± 0.094 ( stat. ) ± 0.010 ( syst. ) ) r a d . Furthermore, charge-parity (CP) breaking is investigated in this reaction and found to be consistent with CP symmetry.

Improved measurement of the semileptonic decay D s + → K 0 e + ν e

Analyzing e + e − collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 7.33 fb − 1 collected at center-of-mass energies between 4.128 and 4.226 GeV with the BESIII detector, we measure the branching fraction of the semileptonic decay D s + → K 0 e + ν e to be ( 2.98 ± 0.2 3 stat ± 0.1 2 syst ) × 10 − 3 . Based on fit to the partial decay rates in various q 2 intervals, the product value of D s + → K 0 hadronic form factor and Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa element is measured to be f + K 0 ( 0 ) | V c d | = 0.143 ± 0.01 1 stat ± 0.00 3 syst . With | V c d | = 0.22486 ± 0.00067 as an input, the hadronic form factor is evaluated to be f + K 0 ( 0 ) = 0.636 ± 0.04 9 stat ± 0.01 3 syst . The branching fraction and form factor measurements are factors of 1.6 and 1.7 more precise than the previous world averages, respectively. Published by the American Physical Society 2024

Measurement of the branching fraction of ψ ( 2 S ) → γ π 0

Based on ( 2712.4 ± 14.1 ) × 10 6 ψ ( 2 S ) events, 7.9 fb − 1 ψ ( 3773 ) data, and 0.8 fb − 1 off-resonance data samples collected with the BESIII detector, we measure the branching fraction of ψ ( 2 S ) → γ π 0 and e + e − → γ π 0 form factor at momentum transfers Q 2 ∼ 13 GeV 2 . The e + e − → γ π 0 cross section is fitted with considering the interference between the ψ ( 2 S ) and continuum amplitudes and two solutions are found, B = 3.74 × 10 − 7 with ϕ = 3.93 rad and B = 7.87 × 10 − 7 with ϕ = 2.08 rad . Here, B is the branching fraction of ψ ( 2 S ) → γ π 0 and ϕ is the relative phase angle between the ψ ( 2 S ) and continuum amplitudes. Due to insufficient off-resonance data, the branching fraction B ( ψ ( 2 S ) → γ π 0 ) is determined to be in the range [ 2.7 , 9.7 ] × 10 − 7 within 1 standard deviation of the contour region. Measurement of the e + e − → p p ¯ π 0 cross section at s = 2.1000 − 3.0800 GeV

The process e + e − → p p ¯ π 0 is studied at 20 center-of-mass energies ranging from 2.1000 to 3.0800 GeV using 636.8 pb − 1 of data collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider. The Born cross sections for e + e − → p p ¯ π 0 are measured with high precision. Since the lowest center-of-mass energy, 2.1000 GeV, is less than 90 MeV above the p p ¯ π 0 energy threshold, we can probe the threshold behavior for this reaction. However, no anomalous threshold enhancement is found in the cross sections for e + e − → p p ¯ π 0 . Published by the American Physical Society 2024

Strong and Weak C P Tests in Sequential Decays of Polarized Σ 0 Hyperons

The J / ψ , ψ ( 3686 ) → Σ 0 Σ ¯ 0 processes and subsequent decays are studied using the world’s largest J / ψ and ψ ( 3686 ) data samples collected with the BESIII detector. The parity-violating decay parameters of the decays Σ 0 → Λ γ and Σ ¯ 0 → Λ ¯ γ , α Σ 0 = − 0.0017 ± 0.0021 ± 0.0018 and α ¯ Σ 0 = 0.0021 ± 0.0020 ± 0.0022 , are measured for the first time. The strong C P symmetry is tested in the decays of the Σ 0 hyperons for the first time by measuring the asymmetry A C P Σ = α Σ 0 + α ¯ Σ 0 = ( 0.4 ± 2.9 ± 1.3 ) × 10 − 3 . The weak C P test is performed in the subsequent decays of their daughter particles Λ and Λ ¯ . Also for the first time, the transverse polarizations of the Σ 0 hyperons in J / ψ and ψ ( 3686 ) decays are observed with opposite directions, and the ratios between the S -wave and D -wave contributions of the J / ψ , ψ ( 3686 ) → Σ 0 Σ ¯ 0 decays are obtained. These results are crucial to understand the decay dynamics of the charmonium states and the production mechanism of the Σ 0 − Σ ¯ 0 pairs. Published by the American Physical Society 2024

Determination of the number of ψ(3686) events taken at BESIII*

Abstract The number ofψ(3686) events collected by the BESIII detector during the 2021 run period is determined to be (2259.3±11.1)×10 6 by counting inclusiveψ(3686) hadronic events. The uncertainty is systematic and the statistical uncertainty is negligible. Meanwhile, the numbers ofψ(3686) events collected during the 2009 and 2012 run periods are updated to be (107.7±0.6)×10 6 and (345.4±2.6)×10 6 , respectively. Both numbers are consistent with the previous measurements within one standard deviation. The total number ofψ(3686) events in the three data samples is (2712.4±14.3)×10 6 .

Measurements of the branching fractions of the P -wave charmonium spin-singlet state h c ( P 1 1 ) → h + h − π 0 / η

Based on ( 2712.4 ± 14.3 ) × 10 6 ψ ( 3686 ) events, we investigate four hadronic decay modes of the P -wave charmonium spin-singlet state h c ( 1 P 1 ) → h + h − π 0 / η ( h = π or K ) via the process ψ ( 3686 ) → π 0 h c at BESIII. Evidences for h c → K + K − π 0 and h c → K + K − η are found with significances of 3.5 σ and 3.3 σ , respectively, after considering the systematic uncertainties. The branching fractions of these decays are measured to be B ( h c → π + π − π 0 ) = ( 1.36 ± 0.16 ± 0.14 ) × 10 − 3 , B ( h c → K + K − π 0 ) = ( 3.26 ± 0.84 ± 0.36 ) × 10 − 4 , and B ( h c → K + K − η ) = ( 3.13 ± 1.08 ± 0.38 ) × 10 − 4 , where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second are systematic.
