Materials Data on Zr3C by Materials Project
Zr3C crystallizes in the hexagonal P6_3/mmc space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Zr is bonded in a distorted see-saw-like geometry to four equivalent C atoms. There are two shorter (2.83 Å) and two longer (2.95 Å) Zr–C bond lengths. C is bonded to twelve equivalent Zr atoms to form a mixture of face and corner-sharing CZr12 cuboctahedra.
