Materials Data on YCCl by Materials Project
YCCl crystallizes in the monoclinic C2/m space group. The structure is two-dimensional and consists of one YCCl sheet oriented in the (0, 0, 1) direction. Y3+ is bonded in a 8-coordinate geometry to five equivalent C2- and three equivalent Cl1- atoms. There are a spread of Y–C bond distances ranging from 2.33–2.67 Å. There are two shorter (2.75 Å) and one longer (2.93 Å) Y–Cl bond lengths. C2- is bonded in a 6-coordinate geometry to five equivalent Y3+ and one C2- atom. The C–C bond length is 1.33 Å. Cl1- is bonded in a 3-coordinate geometry to three equivalent Y3+ atoms.
