Y2AuCu crystallizes in the orthorhombic Immm space group. The structure is one-dimensional and consists of two Y2AuCu ribbons oriented in the (1, 0, 0) direction. Y is bonded in a linear geometry to one Au and one Cu atom. The Y–Au bond length is 2.76 Å. The Y–Cu bond length is 2.77 Å. Au is bonded in a linear geometry to two equivalent Y atoms. Cu is bonded in a linear geometry to two equivalent Y atoms.
Y2AuCu is Heusler structured and crystallizes in the cubic Fm-3m space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Y is bonded in a body-centered cubic geometry to four equivalent Au and four equivalent Cu atoms. All Y–Au bond lengths are 3.07 Å. All Y–Cu bond lengths are 3.07 Å. Au is bonded in a body-centered cubic geometry to eight equivalent Y atoms. Cu is bonded in a body-centered cubic geometry to eight equivalent Y atoms.
