Materials Data on Tm2Pt by Materials Project
Tm2Pt is Cotunnite structured and crystallizes in the orthorhombic Pnma space group. The structure is three-dimensional. there are two inequivalent Tm sites. In the first Tm site, Tm is bonded to four equivalent Pt atoms to form a mixture of edge and corner-sharing TmPt4 tetrahedra. There are a spread of Tm–Pt bond distances ranging from 2.86–2.92 Å. In the second Tm site, Tm is bonded in a 3-coordinate geometry to three equivalent Pt atoms. There are one shorter (2.80 Å) and two longer (3.03 Å) Tm–Pt bond lengths. Pt is bonded in a 7-coordinate geometry to seven Tm atoms.
