ZnTi2O4 crystallizes in the monoclinic Cm space group. The structure is three-dimensional. there are four inequivalent Ti3+ sites. In the first Ti3+ site, Ti3+ is bonded to six O2- atoms to form a mixture of edge and corner-sharing TiO6 octahedra. The corner-sharing octahedra tilt angles range from 48–50°. There are a spread of Ti–O bond distances ranging from 1.95–2.09 Å. In the second Ti3+ site, Ti3+ is bonded to six O2- atoms to form a mixture of edge and corner-sharing TiO6 octahedra. The corner-sharing octahedra tilt angles range from 48–50°. There are a spread of Ti–O bond distances ranging from 1.94–2.08 Å. In the fifth O2- site, O2- is bonded to three Ti3+ and two equivalent Zn2+ atoms to form a mixture of distorted edge and corner-sharing OTi3Zn2 trigonal bipyramids. In the sixth O2- site, O2- is bonded to three Ti3+ and two equivalent Zn2+ atoms to form a mixture of distorted edge and corner-sharing OTi3Zn2 trigonal bipyramids. In the seventh O2- site, O2- is bonded to three Ti3+ and two equivalent Zn2+ atoms to form a mixture of distorted edge and corner-sharing OTi3Zn2 trigonal bipyramids. In the eighth O2- site, O2- is bonded to three Ti3+ and two equivalent Zn2+ atoms to form a mixture of distorted edge and corner-sharing OTi3Zn2 trigonal bipyramids.

Materials Data on Ti2ZnO4 by Materials Project

ZnTi2O4 crystallizes in the orthorhombic Pmmn space group. The structure is three-dimensional. there are two inequivalent Ti3+ sites. In the first Ti3+ site, Ti3+ is bonded to six O2- atoms to form TiO6 octahedra that share corners with five ZnO6 pentagonal pyramids, edges with six TiO6 octahedra, an edgeedge with one ZnO6 pentagonal pyramid, and a faceface with one ZnO6 pentagonal pyramid. There are a spread of Ti–O bond distances ranging from 2.00–2.10 Å. In the second Ti3+ site, Ti3+ is bonded to six O2- atoms to form TiO6 octahedra that share corners with four equivalent ZnO6 pentagonal pyramids, edges with six TiO6 octahedra, and edges with two equivalent ZnO6 pentagonal pyramids. There are four shorter (2.03 Å) and two longer (2.10 Å) Ti–O bond lengths. There are two inequivalent Zn2+ sites. In the first Zn2+ site, Zn2+ is bonded to six O2- atoms to form distorted ZnO6 pentagonal pyramids that share corners with six equivalent TiO6 octahedra, edges with six TiO6 octahedra, and edges with two equivalent ZnO6 pentagonal pyramids. The corner-sharing octahedra tilt angles range from 6–11°. There are two shorter (2.05 Å) and four longer (2.24 Å) Zn–O bond lengths. In the second Zn2+ site, Zn2+ is bonded to six O2- atoms to form distorted ZnO6 pentagonal pyramids that share corners with twelve TiO6 octahedra, edges with two equivalent ZnO6 pentagonal pyramids, and faces with two equivalent TiO6 octahedra. The corner-sharing octahedra tilt angles range from 44–54°. There are two shorter (2.12 Å) and four longer (2.28 Å) Zn–O bond lengths. There are three inequivalent O2- sites. In the first O2- site, O2- is bonded in a rectangular see-saw-like geometry to three Ti3+ and one Zn2+ atom. In the second O2- site, O2- is bonded in a rectangular see-saw-like geometry to three Ti3+ and one Zn2+ atom. In the third O2- site, O2- is bonded to three Ti3+ and two Zn2+ atoms to form a mixture of distorted corner and edge-sharing OTi3Zn2 trigonal bipyramids.

ZnTi2O4 is Spinel-like structured and crystallizes in the monoclinic Cm space group. The structure is three-dimensional. there are twelve inequivalent Ti3+ sites. In the first Ti3+ site, Ti3+ is bonded to six O2- atoms to form TiO6 octahedra that share corners with three TiO4 tetrahedra, corners with three ZnO4 tetrahedra, edges with two equivalent ZnO6 octahedra, and edges with four TiO6 octahedra. There are a spread of Ti–O bond distances ranging from 2.04–2.12 Å. In the second Ti3+ site, Ti3+ is bonded to six O2- atoms to form TiO6 octahedra that share corners with three equivalent TiO4 tetrahedra, corners with three equivalent ZnO4 tetrahedra, edges with two ZnO6 octahedra, and edges with four TiO6 octahedra. There are a spread of Ti–O bond distances ranging from 2.06–2.15 Å. In the third Ti3+ site, Ti3+ is bonded to four O2- atoms to form TiO4 tetrahedra that share corners with six TiO6 octahedra and corners with six ZnO6 octahedra. The corner-sharing octahedra tilt angles range from 49–59°. There is three shorter (1.90 Å) and one longer (1.93 Å) Ti–O bond length. In the second Zn2+ site, Zn2+ is bonded to six O2- atoms to form ZnO6 octahedra that share corners with six TiO4 tetrahedra, edges with two ZnO6 octahedra, and edges with four TiO6 octahedra. There are a spread of Zn–O bond distances ranging from 2.11–2.21 Å. In the third Zn2+ site, Zn2+ is bonded to six O2- atoms to form ZnO6 octahedra that share corners with two equivalent ZnO4 tetrahedra, corners with four TiO4 tetrahedra, an edgeedge with one ZnO6 octahedra, and edges with five TiO6 octahedra. There are a spread of Zn–O bond distances ranging from 2.09–2.27 Å. In the fourth Zn2+ site, Zn2+ is bonded to six O2- atoms to form ZnO6 octahedra that share corners with six TiO4 tetrahedra, edges with two ZnO6 octahedra, and edges with four TiO6 octahedra. There are a spread of Zn–O bond distances ranging from 2.11–2.30 Å. In the fifth Zn2+ site, Zn2+ is bonded to six O2- atoms to form ZnO6 octahedra that share corners with six TiO4 tetrahedra, edges with two ZnO6 octahedra, and edges with four equivalent TiO6 octahedra. There are a spread of Zn–O bond distances ranging from 2.09–2.25 Å. In the sixth Zn2+ site, Zn2+ is bonded to six O2- atoms to form ZnO6 octahedra that share a cornercorner with one ZnO4 tetrahedra, corners with five TiO4 tetrahedra, an edgeedge with one ZnO6 octahedra, and edges with five TiO6 octahedra. There are a spread of Zn–O bond distances ranging from 2.06–2.23 Å. There are eighteen inequivalent O2- sites. In the first O2- site, O2- is bonded in a rectangular see-saw-like geometry to two Ti3+ and two Zn2+ atoms. In the second O2- site, O2- is bonded in a rectangular see-saw-like geometry to three Ti3+ and one Zn2+ atom. In the third O2- site, O2- is bonded in a rectangular see-saw-like geometry to three Ti3+ and one Zn2+ atom. In the fourth O2- site, O2- is bonded to two Ti3+ and two Zn2+ atoms to form a mixture of distorted edge and corner-sharing OTi2Zn2 trigonal pyramids. In the fifth O2- site, O2- is bonded in a rectangular see-saw-like geometry to three Ti3+ and one Zn2+ atom. In the sixth O2- site, O2- is bonded in a rectangular see-saw-like geometry to three Ti3+ and one Zn2+ atom. In the seventh O2- site, O2- is bonded in a rectangular see-saw-like geometry to two Ti3+ and two Zn2+ atoms. In the eighth O2- site, O2- is bonded in a distorted trigonal pyramidal geometry to three Ti3+ and one Zn2+ atom. In the ninth O2- site, O2- is bonded in a rectangular see-saw-like geometry to three Ti3+ and one Zn2+ atom. In the tenth O2- site, O2- is bonded in a rectangular see-saw-like geometry to two Ti3+ and two Zn2+ atoms. In the eleventh O2- site, O2- is bonded in a rectangular see-saw-like geometry to three Ti3+ and one Zn2+ atom. In the twelfth O2- site, O2- is bonded in a rectangular see-saw-like geometry to two Ti3+ and two Zn2+ atoms. In the thirteenth O2- site, O2- is bonded in a distorted tetrahedral geometry to two equivalent Ti3+ and two Zn2+ atoms. In the fourteenth O2- site, O2- is bonded in a rectangular see-saw-like geometry to three Ti3+ and one Zn2+ atom. In the fifteenth O2- site, O2- is bonded in a rectangular see-saw-like geometry to three Ti3+ and one Zn2+ atom. In the sixteenth O2- site, O2- is bonded in a 4-coordinate geometry to four Ti3+ atoms. In the seventeenth O2- site, O2- is bonded in a rectangular see-saw-like geometry to three Ti3+ and one Zn2+ atom. In the eighteenth O2- site, O2- is bonded in a rectangular see-saw-like geometry to three Ti3+ and one Zn2+ atom.
