Sequence-Structure–Property Relationships in Short-Chain Polyesters: How Primary Structure Governs Macroscopic Performance

While polymer properties are fundamentally linked to their nanostructure, the influence of monomer sequence remains less understood than stereochemical factors like tacticity. This study examines how sequence distribution affects the thermal behavior and morphology of homo- and copolyesters, specifically comparing polymers derived from constitutionally identical monomers but with varying degrees of sequence regularity depending on monomer structure or polymerization selectivity. Our findings show that increasing sequence defects progressively diminish thermal stability, crystallinity, melting temperatures, and morphological order. As new materials become more compositionally complex, this work underscores the importance of sequence control in the design of advanced polymers for emerging applications.

On-chip terahertz emission from Floquet-Bloch states [Invited]

Floquet engineering uses time-periodic electromagnetic fields to modify the electronic properties of quantum materials via the creation of Floquet-Bloch states. These photon-dressed states inherit features from both the material and the driving field, enabling the exploration and control of quantum phenomena in light-matter hybrid systems. In non-centrosymmetric materials, shift currents can arise from the quantum geometric properties of electronic wavefunctions. However, shift currents from Floquet-Bloch states remain experimentally unexplored. Here, we employ an on-chip optoelectronic circuit to detect intrinsic terahertz emission from Floquet-Bloch states in T d -WTe 2 under intense optical driving. We observe strong edge-localized terahertz emission that scales linearly with the driving field, consistent with the theoretical prediction for shift currents generated by Floquet-Bloch states. The results advance our understanding of strongly driven quantum materials and provide insights for developing efficient, bias-free terahertz sources for future optoelectronic technologies.

Magnetic structure of topological nodal-line semimetal EuSb 2

Here, we investigated the magnetic structure of the magnetic topological nodal-line semimetal EuSb 2 using x-ray resonant magnetic scattering at the Eu 𝐿 3 absorption edge. Forbidden magnetic reflections confirm antiferromagnetic ordering with propagation vector 𝐪 = (0.5,0,0) below 𝑇 N ≈ 27 K. Azimuthal-angle-dependent measurements reveal that the Eu moments are aligned along the monoclinic 𝑏 axis. Comparison between the measured 𝐐-dependent magnetic Bragg peak intensities and calculations based on representation analysis identifies the magnetic structure as the A-type antiferromagnetic 𝛤 4 representation with a (++−−) arrangement along the 𝑎 direction. These results establish the microscopic magnetic structure of EuSb 2 and provide a basis for understanding the interplay between antiferromagnetism and topological electronic states in this system.

Recent Progress in the Electroweak Structure of Light Nuclei Using Quantum Monte Carlo Methods

Nuclei will play a prominent role in searches for physics beyond the Standard Model as the active material in experiments. In order to reliably interpret new physics signals, one needs an accurate model of the underlying nuclear dynamics. In this review, we discuss recent progress made with quantum Monte Carlo approaches for calculating the electroweak structure of light nuclei. We place particular emphasis on recent β decay, muon capture, neutrinoless double β decay, and electron scattering results.
