Materials Data on SBr2O by Materials Project
SOBr2 crystallizes in the orthorhombic Pca2_1 space group. The structure is zero-dimensional and consists of eight thionyl bromide molecules. S2- is bonded in a distorted single-bond geometry to one O2- and two Br2+ atoms. The S–O bond length is 1.46 Å. There are one shorter (2.28 Å) and one longer (2.31 Å) S–Br bond lengths. O2- is bonded in a single-bond geometry to one S2- atom. There are two inequivalent Br2+ sites. In the first Br2+ site, Br2+ is bonded in a single-bond geometry to one S2- atom. In the second Br2+ site, Br2+ is bonded in a single-bond geometry to one S2- atom.
