Improved thermal resummation for multi-field potentials

The resummation of large thermal corrections to the effective potential is mandatory for the accurate prediction of phase transitions. We discuss the accuracy of different prescriptions to perform this resummation at the one- and two-loop level and point out conceptual issues that appear when using a high-temperature expansion at the two-loop level. Moreover, we show how a particular prescription called partial dressing, which does not rely on a high-temperature expansion, consistently avoids these issues. We introduce a novel technique to apply this resummation method to the case of multiple mixing fields. Our approach significantly extends the range of applicability of the partial dressing prescription, making it suitable for phenomenological studies of beyond the Standard Model extensions of the Higgs sector.

On the new universality class in structurally disordered n -vector model with long-range interactions

We study a stability boundary of a region where nontrivial critical behavior of an n-vector model with long-range power-law decaying interactions is induced by the presence of a structural disorder (e.g., weak quenched dilution). This boundary is given by the marginal dimension of the order parameter nc dependent on space dimension, d, and a control parameter of the interaction decay, σ, below which the model belongs to the new dilution-induced universality class. Exploiting the Harris criterion and recent field theoretical renormalization group results for the pure model with long-range interactions, we get nc as a three loop ɛ = 2σ – d-expansion. We provide numerical values for nc applying series resummation methods. Our results show that not only the Ising systems (n = 1) can belong to the new disorder-induced long-range universality class at d = 2 and 3.

Improving resbos for the precision needs of the LHC

The resummation calculation (esos) is a widely used tool for the simulation of single vector boson production at colliders. In this work, we develop a significant improvement over the esos code by increasing the accuracy from NNLL + NLO to N 3 LL + NNLO and release the esos v2.0 code. Furthermore, we propose a new nonperturbative function that includes information about the rapidity of the system (IFY). The IFY functional form was fitted to data from fixed target experiments, the Tevatron, and the LHC. We find that the nonperturbative function has mild rapidity dependence based on the results of the fit. Published by the American Physical Society 2024

Conformal collider physics meets LHC data

The remarkably high energies of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) have allowed for the first measurements of the shapes and scalings of multipoint correlators of energy flow operators, ⟨ Ψ | E ( n → 1 ) E ( n → 2 ) ⋯ E ( n → k ) | Ψ ⟩ , providing new insights into the Lorentzian dynamics of quantum chromodynamics (QCD). In this letter, we use recent advances in effective field theory to derive a rigorous factorization theorem for the light-ray density matrix, ρ = | Ψ ⟩ ⟨ Ψ | , inside high transverse momentum jets at the LHC. Using the light-ray operator product expansion, the scaling behavior of multipoint correlators can be computed from the expectation value of the twist-2 spin- J light-ray operators, O [ J ] , in this state, Tr [ ρ O [ J ] ] . We compute the light-ray density matrix at next-to-leading order, and combine this with results for the next-to-leading logarithmic scaling behavior of the correlators up to six-points, comparing with CMS open data. This theoretical accuracy allows us to resolve the quantum scaling dimensions of QCD light-ray operators inside jets at the LHC. Our factorization theorem for the light-ray density matrix at the LHC completes the link between recent developments in the study of energy correlators and LHC phenomenology, opening the door to a wide variety of precision jet substructure studies. Six-point functions and collisions in the black hole interior

In the eternal AdS black hole geometry, we consider two signals sent from the boundaries into the black hole interior shared between the two asymptotic regions. We compute three different out-of-time-order six-point functions to quantify various properties of the collision of these signals behind the horizons: (i) We diagnose the strength of the collision by probing the two-signal state on a late time slice with boundary operators. (ii) We quantify two-sided operator growth, which provides a dual description of the signals meeting in the black hole interior, in terms of the quantum butterfly effect and quantum circuits. (iii) We consider an explicit coupling between the left and right CFTs to make the wormhole traversable and extract information about the collision product from behind the horizon. At a technical level, our results rely on the method of eikonal resummation to obtain the relevant gravitational contributions to Lorentzian six-point functions at all orders in the GN-expansion. We observe that such correlation functions display an intriguing factorization property. We corroborate these results with geodesic computations of six-point functions in two- and three-dimensional gravity.

$\mathrm{Z}$ero-jettiness resummation for top-quark pair production at the $\mathrm{LHC}$

We study the resummation of the 0-jettiness resolution variable $\mathcal{T}_o$ for the top-quark pair production process in hadronic collisions. Starting from an effective theory framework we derive a factorisation formula for this observable which allows its resummation at any logarithmic order in the $\mathcal{T}_o$→ o limit. We then calculate the $\mathcal{O}(a_s)$ corrections to the soft function matrices and, by employing renormalisation group equation methods, we obtain the ingredients for the resummation formula up to next-to-next-to-leading logarithmic (NNLL) accuracy. We study the impact of these corrections to the 0-jettiness distribution by comparing predictions at different accuracy orders: NLL, NLL', NNLL and Approximate NNLL' (NNLL$^{'}_{a}$). We match these results to the corresponding fixed order calculations both at leading order and next-to-leading order for the $t\bar{t}$+jet production process, obtaining the most accurate prediction of the 0-jettiness distribution for the top-quark pair production process at NNLL$^{'}_{a}$+NLO accuracy.

Factorization and resummation of QED radiative corrections for neutron beta decay

Details of the two-loop analysis of long-distance QED radiative corrections to neutron beta decay are presented. Explicit expressions are given for hard, jet, and soft functions appearing in the factorization formula that describes the limit of small electron mass and large electron energy. Numerical enhancements from the infrared region are resummed using renormalization group methods. Power corrections, cancellation of singularities in the small-mass expansion, renormalization scheme dependence, and bound-state effects are also discussed. These results provide the most precise determination of long-distance radiative corrections to neutron beta decay and impact the determination of |𝑉 𝑢⁢𝑑 | from the measured neutron lifetime and thus set a target for uncertainty reductions in the experimental and short-distance inputs.
