Dynamics of Plasma Blobs in Curved Magnetic Geometries [Poster]
Plasma blobs are structures within a bulk plasma which are characterized by an increased density relative to the bulk, and movement as coherent objects across magnetic field lines. In general, ions and electrons will follow helical trajectories through a magnetic field, with direction of gyration dependent on sign of the particle’s charge, and helix gyroradius proportional to particle speed, and inversely proportional to magnetic field strength.
