Materials Data on Nb2F5 by Materials Project
Nb2F5 crystallizes in the cubic Im-3m space group. The structure is three-dimensional and consists of two Nb2F5 frameworks. Nb+2.50+ is bonded to five F1- atoms to form corner-sharing NbF5 square pyramids. There are four shorter (2.09 Å) and one longer (2.18 Å) Nb–F bond lengths. There are two inequivalent F1- sites. In the first F1- site, F1- is bonded in a linear geometry to two equivalent Nb+2.50+ atoms. In the second F1- site, F1- is bonded in an L-shaped geometry to two equivalent Nb+2.50+ atoms.
