Materials Data on MgBePt2 by Materials Project
MgBePt2 crystallizes in the orthorhombic Immm space group. The structure is one-dimensional and consists of two MgBePt2 ribbons oriented in the (1, 0, 0) direction. Mg2+ is bonded in a linear geometry to two equivalent Pt2- atoms. Both Mg–Pt bond lengths are 2.52 Å. Be2+ is bonded in a linear geometry to two equivalent Pt2- atoms. Both Be–Pt bond lengths are 2.05 Å. Pt2- is bonded in a linear geometry to one Mg2+ and one Be2+ atom.
