Materials Data on LaSeCl by Materials Project
LaSeCl crystallizes in the orthorhombic Pnma space group. The structure is three-dimensional. La3+ is bonded in a 9-coordinate geometry to five equivalent Se2- and four equivalent Cl1- atoms. There are a spread of La–Se bond distances ranging from 3.09–3.30 Å. There are a spread of La–Cl bond distances ranging from 2.95–3.11 Å. Se2- is bonded in a 5-coordinate geometry to five equivalent La3+ atoms. Cl1- is bonded in a 4-coordinate geometry to four equivalent La3+ atoms.
