Materials Data on La2CCl by Materials Project
La2CCl is Caswellsilverite structured and crystallizes in the trigonal R-3m space group. The structure is three-dimensional. La+2.50+ is bonded to three equivalent C4- and three equivalent Cl1- atoms to form a mixture of edge and corner-sharing LaC3Cl3 octahedra. The corner-sharing octahedral tilt angles are 0°. All La–C bond lengths are 2.64 Å. All La–Cl bond lengths are 3.17 Å. C4- is bonded to six equivalent La+2.50+ atoms to form edge-sharing CLa6 octahedra. Cl1- is bonded in a 6-coordinate geometry to six equivalent La+2.50+ atoms.
