Materials Data on KPtN by Materials Project

KPtN crystallizes in the monoclinic Cc space group. The structure is three-dimensional. K1+ is bonded in a 4-coordinate geometry to four equivalent N3- atoms. There are one shorter (2.97 Å) and three longer (2.98 Å) K–N bond lengths. Pt2+ is bonded in a linear geometry to two equivalent N3- atoms. Both Pt–N bond lengths are 1.87 Å. N3- is bonded to four equivalent K1+ and two equivalent Pt2+ atoms to form a mixture of distorted corner and edge-sharing NK4Pt2 octahedra. The corner-sharing octahedra tilt angles range from 0–53°.
