Materials Data on KPt3 by Materials Project
KPt3 crystallizes in the hexagonal P6_3/mmc space group. The structure is three-dimensional. K is bonded to twelve equivalent Pt atoms to form a mixture of distorted face and corner-sharing KPt12 cuboctahedra. There are six shorter (3.18 Å) and six longer (3.28 Å) K–Pt bond lengths. Pt is bonded in a 4-coordinate geometry to four equivalent K and six equivalent Pt atoms. There are two shorter (2.72 Å) and four longer (2.78 Å) Pt–Pt bond lengths.
