Materials Data on HoCl3 by Materials Project
HoCl3 crystallizes in the hexagonal P6_3/mmc space group. The structure is one-dimensional and consists of two HoCl3 ribbons oriented in the (0, 0, 1) direction. Ho3+ is bonded to six equivalent Cl1- atoms to form distorted face-sharing HoCl6 pentagonal pyramids. All Ho–Cl bond lengths are 2.66 Å. Cl1- is bonded in an L-shaped geometry to two equivalent Ho3+ atoms.
