Materials Data on HfSiO4 by Materials Project
HfSiO4 is Zircon structured and crystallizes in the tetragonal I4_1/amd space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Hf4+ is bonded in a 8-coordinate geometry to eight equivalent O2- atoms. There are four shorter (2.13 Å) and four longer (2.27 Å) Hf–O bond lengths. Si4+ is bonded in a tetrahedral geometry to four equivalent O2- atoms. All Si–O bond lengths are 1.64 Å. O2- is bonded in a 3-coordinate geometry to two equivalent Hf4+ and one Si4+ atom.
