Materials Data on H4Pt by Materials Project
PtH4 crystallizes in the cubic Im-3m space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Pt2- is bonded to six H+0.50+ atoms to form corner-sharing PtH6 octahedra. The corner-sharing octahedral tilt angles are 0°. There is two shorter (1.67 Å) and four longer (1.68 Å) Pt–H bond length. There are two inequivalent H+0.50+ sites. In the first H+0.50+ site, H+0.50+ is bonded in a single-bond geometry to one Pt2- atom. In the second H+0.50+ site, H+0.50+ is bonded in a linear geometry to two equivalent Pt2- atoms.
