Materials Data on MnHO2 by Materials Project

MnOOH crystallizes in the monoclinic Cm space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Mn3+ is bonded to six O2- atoms to form distorted edge-sharing MnO6 octahedra. There are a spread of Mn–O bond distances ranging from 1.95–2.34 Å. H1+ is bonded in a linear geometry to two O2- atoms. There is one shorter (1.06 Å) and one longer (1.46 Å) H–O bond length. There are two inequivalent O2- sites. In the first O2- site, O2- is bonded in a 1-coordinate geometry to three equivalent Mn3+ and one H1+ atom. In the second O2- site, O2- is bonded to three equivalent Mn3+ and one H1+ atom to form distorted corner-sharing OMn3H tetrahedra.

Materials Data on Mn(HO)2 by Materials Project

Mn(OH)2 crystallizes in the monoclinic C2 space group. The structure is two-dimensional and consists of one Mn(OH)2 sheet oriented in the (0, 0, 1) direction. Mn2+ is bonded to six equivalent O2- atoms to form edge-sharing MnO6 octahedra. There are a spread of Mn–O bond distances ranging from 2.20–2.25 Å. H1+ is bonded in a single-bond geometry to one O2- atom. The H–O bond length is 0.98 Å. O2- is bonded in a distorted single-bond geometry to three equivalent Mn2+ and one H1+ atom.

Mn8HO16 crystallizes in the monoclinic Pc space group. The structure is three-dimensional. there are eight inequivalent Mn+3.88+ sites. In the first Mn+3.88+ site, Mn+3.88+ is bonded to six O2- atoms to form a mixture of edge and corner-sharing MnO6 octahedra. The corner-sharing octahedra tilt angles range from 47–51°. There are a spread of Mn–O bond distances ranging from 1.90–1.98 Å. In the second Mn+3.88+ site, Mn+3.88+ is bonded to six O2- atoms to form a mixture of edge and corner-sharing MnO6 octahedra. The corner-sharing octahedra tilt angles range from 50–53°. There are a spread of Mn–O bond distances ranging from 1.92–1.97 Å. In the third Mn+3.88+ site, Mn+3.88+ is bonded to six O2- atoms to form a mixture of edge and corner-sharing MnO6 octahedra. The corner-sharing octahedra tilt angles range from 49–51°. There are a spread of Mn–O bond distances ranging from 1.93–1.96 Å. In the fourth Mn+3.88+ site, Mn+3.88+ is bonded to six O2- atoms to form a mixture of edge and corner-sharing MnO6 octahedra. There is four shorter (1.93 Å) and two longer (1.99 Å) Mn–O bond length. In the second Mn+3.33+ site, Mn+3.33+ is bonded to six O2- atoms to form a mixture of distorted edge and corner-sharing MnO6 octahedra. The corner-sharing octahedra tilt angles range from 51–60°. There are a spread of Mn–O bond distances ranging from 1.95–2.42 Å. H1+ is bonded in a single-bond geometry to one O2- atom. The H–O bond length is 1.00 Å. There are three inequivalent O2- sites.
