Graphically Contracted Function Construction with the Recursive Pairwise Merge Algorithm

A new implementation of a recursive pairwise merge algorithm to construct a GCF from a list of CSF expansion coefficients is presented. The essential new feature is the preallocation of some work arrays used within the intermediate steps of the merge procedure. This results in roughly an order of magnitude improvement in overall efficiency and also approximately eliminates a factor of n, the molecular orbital dimension, from the original implementation. Initial application of this merge procedure to a series of H m molecules shows that the GCF wave functions can be represented well both with delocalized canonical Hartree-Fock orbitals and with localized molecular orbitals. Finally, for a given wave function complexity, as measured by the average facet count, $\bar{\text {f}}$, the delocalized Hartree-Fock orbitals show smaller errors for small $\bar{\text {f}}$ values, while the localized orbitals show smaller errors for larger $\bar{\text {f}}$ values.

Wave function analysis with a maximum flow algorithm

An efficient algorithm for computing the maximum-flow path in a network is applied to the identification of the dominant configuration state functions (CSFs) in a graphically contracted function (GCF), configuration interaction, wave function. The flow network is a space of spin-adapted CSFs represented by a Shavitt graph, wherein the nodes correspond to orbital occupations and spin quantum numbers. The graph nodes are connected by arcs, and an arc density is defined as sums of the associated squared CSF coefficients. A max-min approach determines an upper bound to the maximum possible incoming flow for each graph node. A backtracking step generates a candidate walk and is followed by a limited search of alternative branching paths for the dominant CSF. The arc density contributions are removed from the graph, and the algorithm is reapplied to the updated graph. This list of generated walks can be partitioned in order to guarantee that the dominant CSFs have been identified. All of the steps in this algorithm are computationally efficient and do not depend on the potentially large dimension of the underlying linear CSF expansion space. An analysis of low-lying valence states of C-2 illustrates the method.

LibERI—A portable and performant multi-GPU accelerated library for electron repulsion integrals via OpenMP offloading and standard language parallelism

A portable and performant graphics processing unit (GPU)-accelerated library for electron repulsion integral (ERI) evaluation, named LibERI, has been developed and implemented via directive-based (e.g., OpenMP and OpenACC) and standard language parallelism (e.g., Fortran DO CONCURRENT). Offloaded ERIs consist of integrals over low and high contraction s, p, and d functions using the rotated-axis and Rys quadrature methods. GPU codes are factorized based on previous developments with two layers of integral screening and quartet presorting. In this work, the density screening is moved to the GPU to enhance the computational efficacy for large molecular systems. Here, the L-shells in the Pople basis set are also separated into pure S and P shells to increase the ERI homogeneity and reduce atomic operations and the memory footprint. LibERI is compatible with any quantum chemistry drivers supporting the MolSSI Driver Interface. Benchmark calculations of LibERI interfaced with the GAMESS software package were carried out on various GPU architectures and molecular systems. The results show that the LibERI performance is comparable to other state-of-the-art GPU-accelerated codes (e.g., TeraChem and GMSHPC) and, in some cases, outperforms conventionally developed ERI CUDA kernels (e.g., QUICK) while fully maintaining portability.

Massively parallel GPU enabled third-order cluster perturbation excitation energies for cost-effective large scale excitation energy calculations

We present here a massively parallel implementation of the recently developed CPS(D-3) excitation energy model that is based on cluster perturbation theory. The new algorithm extends the one developed in Baudin et al. [J. Chem. Phys., 150, 134110 (2019)] to leverage multiple nodes and utilize graphical processing units for the acceleration of heavy tensor contractions. Furthermore, we show that the extended algorithm scales efficiently with increasing amounts of computational resources and that the developed code enables CPS(D-3) excitation energy calculations on large molecular systems with a low time-to-solution. More specifically, calculations on systems with over 100 atoms and 1000 basis functions are possible in a few hours of wall clock time. This establishes CPS(D-3) excitation energies as a computationally efficient alternative to those obtained from the coupled-cluster singles and doubles model.

Sequential Training ToolKit - STTK

Sequential Training ToolKit, or STTK, is a software toolkit plugin for the Unity development platform that enables software developers to easily develop structured Sequential Training applications for gaming and extended reality (XR) environments. STTK is architected to easily import the toolkit as a plugin for the Unity platform and then interact with the graphical user interface (GUI) for drag-and-drop functionality. STTK also includes easy add-on plugins for Prefabs and auto-builds a State Machine. Sudoku Online Testing Framework v.0.2

The Sudoku Online Testing Framework provides a configurable basis for testing user interactions to solve visualization-related problems with sudoku puzzles and games. It consists of a server, a client, and test code. The python server implements sudoku puzzle logic and board selection functions. The JavaScript client implements a graphical user interface (GUI) front-end to display the puzzles and facilitate interactions with users. Within the GUI, logical rules may be selected. Cells may be selected to “pivot” on to make a board for each possible value in the cell.
