B(Ge)3 is Uranium Silicide structured and crystallizes in the cubic Pm-3m space group. The structure is three-dimensional and consists of one boron molecule and one Ge framework. In the Ge framework, Ge is bonded to eight equivalent Ge atoms to form a mixture of distorted face, edge, and corner-sharing GeGe8 cuboctahedra. All Ge–Ge bond lengths are 2.84 Å.
BGe3 crystallizes in the hexagonal P6_3/mmc space group. The structure is three-dimensional. B is bonded in a 6-coordinate geometry to six equivalent Ge atoms. All B–Ge bond lengths are 2.79 Å. Ge is bonded in a 12-coordinate geometry to two equivalent B and eight equivalent Ge atoms. There are a spread of Ge–Ge bond distances ranging from 2.70–2.92 Å.
