Materials Data on EuICl by Materials Project
EuClI crystallizes in the orthorhombic Pnma space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Eu2+ is bonded in a 7-coordinate geometry to four equivalent I1- and three equivalent Cl1- atoms. There are two shorter (3.37 Å) and two longer (3.46 Å) Eu–I bond lengths. There are two shorter (2.91 Å) and one longer (2.94 Å) Eu–Cl bond lengths. I1- is bonded in a 4-coordinate geometry to four equivalent Eu2+ atoms. Cl1- is bonded in a distorted trigonal non-coplanar geometry to three equivalent Eu2+ atoms.
