Materials Data on Eu2Ge by Materials Project

Eu2Ge is Cotunnite structured and crystallizes in the orthorhombic Pnma space group. The structure is three-dimensional. there are two inequivalent Eu sites. In the first Eu site, Eu is bonded in a 5-coordinate geometry to five equivalent Ge atoms. There are a spread of Eu–Ge bond distances ranging from 3.16–3.69 Å. In the second Eu site, Eu is bonded to four equivalent Ge atoms to form a mixture of edge and corner-sharing EuGe4 tetrahedra. There are a spread of Eu–Ge bond distances ranging from 3.07–3.14 Å. Ge is bonded in a 9-coordinate geometry to nine Eu atoms.

Materials Data on Eu2Ge(BO4)2 by Materials Project

Eu2GeB2O8 crystallizes in the orthorhombic Pbcn space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Eu3+ is bonded in a 7-coordinate geometry to seven O2- atoms. There are a spread of Eu–O bond distances ranging from 2.35–2.59 Å. B3+ is bonded to four O2- atoms to form BO4 tetrahedra that share a cornercorner with one GeO4 tetrahedra and corners with two equivalent BO4 tetrahedra. There are a spread of B–O bond distances ranging from 1.46–1.51 Å. Ge4+ is bonded to four O2- atoms to form GeO4 tetrahedra that share corners with two equivalent BO4 tetrahedra. There is two shorter (1.75 Å) and two longer (1.80 Å) Ge–O bond length. There are four inequivalent O2- sites. In the first O2- site, O2- is bonded in a distorted bent 120 degrees geometry to one Eu3+ and two equivalent B3+ atoms. In the second O2- site, O2- is bonded in a distorted trigonal planar geometry to two equivalent Eu3+ and one Ge4+ atom. In the third O2- site, O2- is bonded in a distorted single-bond geometry to three equivalent Eu3+ and one B3+ atom. In the fourth O2- site, O2- is bonded in a 3-coordinate geometry to one Eu3+, one B3+, and one Ge4+ atom.
