Inside the hot cells of HFEF (Hot Fuel Examination Facility) and FCF (Fuel Conditioning Facility) reside several large, purpose built 6500-pound cranes. Each crane holds several DC motors that must all be actuated without error for years on end. However, when a component becomes inoperable inside one of these crane carriages, it must be taken out of cell, fixed, and reevaluated. In order to test these cranes and EMMs, two test boxes were built. However, the test cabinets were designed with few engineering controls, zero released documentation, and they were both at some level of disrepair. This poster goes over some of the particulars that go into a control box redesign, mostly focusing on the drawing and DCR process.
