RC-SFA Data Management Templates and Guidance for Standardized, Reusable AI-Ready Data Packages

This data package provides templates and supporting documentation developed by the River Corridor Science Focus Area (RC-SFA; https://www.pnnl.gov/projects/river-corridor) to communicate its approach to managing and publishing AI-ready data. The package is intended to help data users and data producers understand the structures, metadata practices, and quality-control approaches that support consistent, reusable, and machine-actionable data products across RC-SFA studies. Rather than focusing on a single experimental dataset, this package documents the data management framework used to make RC-SFA data easier to find, ingest, navigate, and interpret. The materials in this package reflect RC-SFA practices for standardized data package organization, including the use of a human- and machine-readable README, file-level metadata, data dictionaries, descriptive file naming, method identifiers, and automated and review-based quality assurance procedures. Together, these components illustrate how RC-SFA extends FAIR data principles toward AI-readiness by prioritizing deep metadata, consistency across data packages, and support for informed downstream reuse by both humans and computational tools. This dataset is comprised of (1) readme; (2) presentation slides with an overview of RC-SFA approach and guidance; (3) document of RC-SFA best practices; (4) data dictionary (dd); (5) file level metadata (flmd); and a subfolder containing templates for dd and flmd. All files are .csv and .pdf. For details on how to navigate data packages generated by this project, see https://data.ess-dive.lbl.gov/portals/PNNLRiverCorridorSFA/About.

Packaging data products using data grid middleware for Deep Space Mission Systems

We are investigating a distributed computing infrastructure for releasing science products out of the mission pipeline. We are creating a DSMS Product Service and DSMS Data Packaging Service based on the OODT middleware, a Data Grid middleware technology that has proven successful in providing access to heterogeneous, disparate data, and federating that data using a common data model.

Long duration exposure facility solar illumination data package

A post flight solar illumination data package was created by the LDEF thermal analysis data group in support of the LDEF science office data group. The data presented was prepared with the Thermal Radiation Analysis System (TRASYS) program. Ground tracking data was used to calculate daily orbital beta angles for the calculation of resultant fluxes. This data package will be useful in calculation of solar illumination fluent for a variety of beta angle orbital conditions encountered during the LDEF mission.

Multi-omics data resource: Data package 23 (Pck023)

The data package consists of isolated pancreatic islets from adult male C57BL6/J mice treated with IL-1β + IFNγ, IL-1β + IFNγ + NMMA, or NMMA alone for 18 h and submitted for scRNA-seq. This study focused on the cell-type-specific effects of nitric oxide signaling in islets and characterized the heterogeneity of responses. Multi-omics data resource: Data package 24 (Pck024)

The data package consists of isolated pancreatic islets from 3 human donors treated with IL-1β, IFNγ or IL-1β + IFNγ for 6 h and IL-1β, IFNγ, IL-1β + IFNγ, IL-1β + IFNγ + NMMA or NMMA for 18 h and submitted for scRNA-seq. This study examines cytokine-stimulated changes in gene expression in human islets using single-cell RNA sequencing. Multi-omics data resource: Data package 25 (Pck025)

This data package comprises omics datasets from human pancreatic islets treated with IL-1β + IFNγ or with estrogen (E2) for 18 h. Two RNA-seq datasets are available: the first is a discovery dataset involving human islets treated with or without IL-1β + IFNγ for 18 hours; the second is a validation dataset, where human islets are treated with or without IL-1β + IFNγ or E2 for 18 hours. DIA proteomic analysis was performed on the same validation dataset samples. Data contributors: Kiersten L. Webster, Sarah Tersey & Raghavendra G. Hanford Site Composite Analysis Data Package: Exposure Scenarios and Radionuclide Specific Dose Conversion Factors.

This data package summarizes the exposure assumptions, equations, and methods used to calculate radionuclide-specific unit dose factors and the radiological doses for both groundwater and atmospheric pathways as a part of the revised Hanford Site Composite Analysis. An All-Pathways Representative Person exposure scenario is considered to evaluate exposure via both groundwater and atmospheric transport pathways. The radiological dose assessments for both groundwater and atmospheric pathways are included in the performance assessments for various Waste Management Areas at the Hanford Site. This data package calculates exposure route-specific and total unit dose factors for composite-analysis-specific radionuclides of concern based on the exposure assumptions used in the composite analysis and performance assessments. This data package presents the results and comparison of the radionuclide-specific unit dose factors based on the exposure assumptions used in the revised composite analysis and various performance assessments.

Preparing safety data packages for experimenters using the Get Away Special (GAS) carrier system

The implementation of NSTS 1700.7B and more forceful scruntiny of data packages by the Johnson Space Flight Center (JSC) lead to the development of a classification policy for GAS/CAP payloads. The purpose of this policy is to classify experiments using the carrier system so that they receive an appropriate level of JSC review (i.e., one or multiphase reviews). This policy is based on energy containment to show inherent payload safety. It impacts the approach to performing hazard analyses and the nature of the data package. This paper endeavors to explain the impact of this policy as well as the impact of recent JSC as well as Kennedy Space Flight Center (KSC) 'interpretations' of existing requirements. The GAS canister does adequately contain most experiments when flown in the sealed configuration (however this must be shown, not merely stated). This paper also includes data package preparation guidelines for those experiments that require an opening door which often present unique safety issues.

Geochemical data package for performance assessment calculations related to the Savannah River Site

The Savannah River Site (SRS) disposes of low-level radioactive waste (LLW) and stabilizes high-level radioactive waste (HLW) tanks in the subsurface environment. Calculations used to establish the radiological limits of these facilities are referred to as Performance Assessments (PAs), Special Analyses (SAs), and Composite Analyses (CAs). The purpose of this document is to revise the existing geochemical data package used for these calculations (Kaplan, 2016). This work builds on earlier compilations of geochemical data, referred to a geochemical data packages (Kaplan, 2007; Kaplan, 2010; Kaplan, 2016; McDowell-Boyer et al., 2000). This work is being conducted as part of the on-going maintenance program of the SRS PA programs that periodically updates calculations and data packages when new information becomes available.
