Materials Data on Cu2B2C by Materials Project

Cu2B2C crystallizes in the monoclinic Cm space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Cu1+ is bonded to four B atoms to form a mixture of distorted edge and corner-sharing CuB4 tetrahedra. There are two shorter (2.08 Å) and two longer (2.09 Å) Cu–B bond lengths. There are two inequivalent B sites. In the first B site, B is bonded in a distorted single-bond geometry to four equivalent Cu1+ and one C2- atom. The B–C bond length is 1.42 Å. In the second B site, B is bonded in a distorted single-bond geometry to four equivalent Cu1+ and one C2- atom. The B–C bond length is 1.41 Å. C2- is bonded in a linear geometry to two B atoms.
