Materials Data on Cu(IN)4 by Materials Project
Cu(N2I)2(I)2 crystallizes in the monoclinic C2/m space group. The structure is two-dimensional and consists of two iodine molecules and one Cu(N2I)2 sheet oriented in the (0, 0, 1) direction. In the Cu(N2I)2 sheet, Cu2+ is bonded in a distorted square co-planar geometry to four equivalent N+0.50+ atoms. All Cu–N bond lengths are 1.90 Å. N+0.50+ is bonded in a 3-coordinate geometry to one Cu2+ and two equivalent I1- atoms. There are one shorter (2.04 Å) and one longer (2.21 Å) N–I bond lengths. I1- is bonded in a 4-coordinate geometry to four equivalent N+0.50+ atoms.
