CrRu2Sn crystallizes in the orthorhombic Immm space group. The structure is one-dimensional and consists of two CrRu2Sn ribbons oriented in the (1, 0, 0) direction. Cr is bonded in a linear geometry to two equivalent Ru atoms. Both Cr–Ru bond lengths are 2.04 Å. Ru is bonded in a linear geometry to one Cr and one Sn atom. The Ru–Sn bond length is 2.58 Å. Sn is bonded in a linear geometry to two equivalent Ru atoms.
CrRu2Sn is Heusler structured and crystallizes in the cubic Fm-3m space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Cr is bonded in a body-centered cubic geometry to eight equivalent Ru atoms. All Cr–Ru bond lengths are 2.70 Å. Ru is bonded in a body-centered cubic geometry to four equivalent Cr and four equivalent Sn atoms. All Ru–Sn bond lengths are 2.70 Å. Sn is bonded in a distorted body-centered cubic geometry to eight equivalent Ru atoms.
