Materials Data on CoN7O8 by Materials Project

CoN2N2(NO2)2NO4 crystallizes in the orthorhombic P2_12_12_1 space group. The structure is one-dimensional and consists of four diamino cobalt molecules; four nitrogen molecules; eight nitrous acid molecules; and four NO4 ribbons oriented in the (1, 0, 0) direction. In each NO4 ribbon, N+1.86+ is bonded in a trigonal planar geometry to three O2- atoms. There are a spread of N–O bond distances ranging from 1.23–1.29 Å. There are four inequivalent O2- sites. In the first O2- site, O2- is bonded in a 3-coordinate geometry to three O2- atoms. There are a spread of O–O bond distances ranging from 2.10–3.04 Å. In the second O2- site, O2- is bonded in a single-bond geometry to one N+1.86+ and one O2- atom. In the third O2- site, O2- is bonded in a single-bond geometry to one N+1.86+ and one O2- atom. In the fourth O2- site, O2- is bonded in a single-bond geometry to one N+1.86+ and one O2- atom.
