Materials Data on CeEu3 by Materials Project
Eu3Ce is beta Cu3Ti-like structured and crystallizes in the hexagonal P6_3/mmc space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Eu is bonded to eight equivalent Eu and four equivalent Ce atoms to form EuCe4Eu8 cuboctahedra that share corners with four equivalent CeEu12 cuboctahedra, corners with fourteen equivalent EuCe4Eu8 cuboctahedra, edges with six equivalent CeEu12 cuboctahedra, edges with twelve equivalent EuCe4Eu8 cuboctahedra, faces with four equivalent CeEu12 cuboctahedra, and faces with sixteen equivalent EuCe4Eu8 cuboctahedra. There are a spread of Eu–Eu bond distances ranging from 3.80–3.96 Å. There are two shorter (3.84 Å) and two longer (3.88 Å) Eu–Ce bond lengths. Ce is bonded to twelve equivalent Eu atoms to form CeEu12 cuboctahedra that share corners with six equivalent CeEu12 cuboctahedra, corners with twelve equivalent EuCe4Eu8 cuboctahedra, edges with eighteen equivalent EuCe4Eu8 cuboctahedra, faces with eight equivalent CeEu12 cuboctahedra, and faces with twelve equivalent EuCe4Eu8 cuboctahedra.
