Materials Data on La2CdTe4 by Materials Project
La2CdTe4 is Magnesium tetraboride-derived structured and crystallizes in the tetragonal I-42d space group. The structure is three-dimensional. La3+ is bonded in a 8-coordinate geometry to eight equivalent Te2- atoms. There are a spread of La–Te bond distances ranging from 3.17–3.60 Å. Cd2+ is bonded in a 4-coordinate geometry to eight equivalent Te2- atoms. There are four shorter (3.02 Å) and four longer (3.70 Å) Cd–Te bond lengths. Te2- is bonded in a 6-coordinate geometry to four equivalent La3+ and two equivalent Cd2+ atoms.
