Binary to binary coded decimal converter

A binary coded input signal is converted to a binary coded decimal signal having N decades by employing N four bit shift registers. The bits of the input signal are sequentially supplied, in order, to the least significant position of the register for the units decade, with the most significant bit of the input signal being applied to the units register first. Each of the registers includes a right shift-parallel load mode control input terminal. In response to the sum of the values stored in each register and the binary value 0011 being less than the binary value 1000, the mode control input terminal is activated to shift the register contents one bit to the right. In response to the sum being greater than 1000, the mode control input terminal is activated to load the sum into the register.

High speed direct-binary to binary-coded-decimal converter and scaler

Telemetry (pulse code modulated) digital system usually sends binary numbers representing some parameter that is not value of binary number. Received binary number must be scaled and converted to binary coded decimal to operate readout device to display true value. Group of adders speed up binary number conversion and scaling in one operation.

Systems and methods for binary code analysis

Human-readable (HR) code may be derived from a binary. The HR code may be configured to have statistical properties suitable for machine-learned (ML) translation. The HR code may comprise source code, intermediate code, assembly code, or the like. A machine-learned translator may be configured to translate the HR code into labels comprising semantic information pertaining to respective functions of the binary, such as a function name, role, or the like. Execution of the binary may be blocked in response to translating the HR code to a label associated with malware, such as cryptocurrency mining malware or the like. Conversely, the binary may be permitted to proceed to execution in response to determining that the translation is free from labels indicative of malware.

Optimal periodic binary codes of lengths 28 to 64

Results from computer searches performed to find repeated binary phase coded waveforms with optimal periodic autocorrelation functions are discussed. The best results for lengths 28 to 64 are given. The code features of major concern are where (1) the peak sidelobe in the autocorrelation function is small and (2) the sum of the squares of the sidelobes in the autocorrelation function is small.

Digital system detects binary code patterns containing errors

System of square loop magnetic cores associated with code input registers to react to input code patterns by reference to a group of control cores in such a manner that errors are canceled and patterns containing errors are accepted for amplification and processing. This technique improves reception capabilities in PCM telemetry systems.

Pulse compression using binary phase codes

In most MST applications pulsed radars are peak power limited and have excess average power capacity. Short pulses are required for good range resolution, but the problem of range ambiguity (signals received simultaneously from more than one altitude) sets a minimum limit on the interpulse period (IPP). Pulse compression is a technique which allows more of the transmitter average power capacity to be used without sacrificing range resolution. As the name implies, a pulse of power P and duration T is in a certain sense converted into one of power nP and duration T/n. In the frequency domain, compression involves manipulating the phases of the different frequency components of the pulse. One way to compress a pulse is via phase coding, especially binary phase coding, a technique which is particularly amenable to digital processing techniques. This method, which is used extensively in radar probing of the atmosphere and ionosphere is discussed. Barker codes, complementary and quasi-complementary code sets, and cyclic codes are addressed.

Probability Quantization for Multiplication-Free Binary Arithmetic Coding

A method has been developed to improve on Witten's binary arithmetic coding procedure of tracking a high value and a low value. The new method approximates the probability of the less probable symbol, which improves the worst-case coding efficiency.

On the optimum bit orders with respect to the state complexity of trellis diagrams for binary linear codes

It was shown earlier that for a punctured Reed-Muller (RM) code or a primitive BCH code, which contains a punctured RM code of the same minimum distance as a large subcode, the state complexity of the minimal trellis diagram is much greater than that for an equivalent code obtained by a proper permutation on the bit positions. To find a permutation on the bit positions for a given code that minimizes the state complexity of its minimal trellis diagram is an interesting and challenging problem. This permutation problem is related to the generalized Hamming weight hierarchy of a code, and is shown that for RM codes, the standard binary order of bit positions is optimum at every bit position with respect to the state complexity of a minimal trellis diagram by using a theorem due to Wei. The state complexity of trellis diagram for the extended and permuted (64, 24) BCH code is discussed.
