Materials Data on Zn8B3H3O14 by Materials Project
Zn8B3H3O14 crystallizes in the trigonal R32 space group. The structure is three-dimensional. there are two inequivalent Zn2+ sites. In the first Zn2+ site, Zn2+ is bonded to four O2- atoms to form corner-sharing ZnO4 tetrahedra. There are one shorter (2.00 Å) and three longer (2.01 Å) Zn–O bond lengths. In the second Zn2+ site, Zn2+ is bonded to four O2- atoms to form corner-sharing ZnO4 tetrahedra. There are a spread of Zn–O bond distances ranging from 1.96–2.00 Å. B3+ is bonded in a trigonal planar geometry to three O2- atoms. There is two shorter (1.38 Å) and one longer (1.40 Å) B–O bond length. H1+ is bonded in a single-bond geometry to one O2- atom. The H–O bond length is 0.97 Å. There are four inequivalent O2- sites. In the first O2- site, O2- is bonded in a trigonal planar geometry to two equivalent Zn2+ and one H1+ atom. In the second O2- site, O2- is bonded in a tetrahedral geometry to four Zn2+ atoms. In the third O2- site, O2- is bonded in a trigonal planar geometry to two Zn2+ and one B3+ atom. In the fourth O2- site, O2- is bonded in a trigonal planar geometry to two equivalent Zn2+ and one B3+ atom.
