Materials Data on MgBHO3 by Materials Project

MgBO2(OH) crystallizes in the monoclinic P2_1/c space group. The structure is three-dimensional. there are two inequivalent Mg2+ sites. In the first Mg2+ site, Mg2+ is bonded to six O2- atoms to form a mixture of edge and corner-sharing MgO6 octahedra. The corner-sharing octahedra tilt angles range from 59–61°. There are a spread of Mg–O bond distances ranging from 2.06–2.21 Å. In the second Mg2+ site, Mg2+ is bonded to six O2- atoms to form a mixture of edge and corner-sharing MgO6 octahedra. The corner-sharing octahedra tilt angles range from 59–61°. There are a spread of Mg–O bond distances ranging from 2.05–2.24 Å. There are two inequivalent B3+ sites. In the first B3+ site, B3+ is bonded in a trigonal planar geometry to three O2- atoms. There are a spread of B–O bond distances ranging from 1.36–1.42 Å. In the second B3+ site, B3+ is bonded in a trigonal planar geometry to three O2- atoms. There is one shorter (1.37 Å) and two longer (1.39 Å) B–O bond length. There are two inequivalent H1+ sites. In the first H1+ site, H1+ is bonded in a single-bond geometry to one O2- atom. The H–O bond length is 0.98 Å. In the second H1+ site, H1+ is bonded in a linear geometry to two O2- atoms. There is one shorter (1.03 Å) and one longer (1.55 Å) H–O bond length. There are six inequivalent O2- sites. In the first O2- site, O2- is bonded in a bent 120 degrees geometry to two B3+ atoms. In the second O2- site, O2- is bonded in a distorted trigonal planar geometry to one Mg2+, one B3+, and one H1+ atom. In the third O2- site, O2- is bonded in a 4-coordinate geometry to three equivalent Mg2+ and one B3+ atom. In the fourth O2- site, O2- is bonded in a distorted single-bond geometry to three Mg2+ and one H1+ atom. In the fifth O2- site, O2- is bonded in a distorted rectangular see-saw-like geometry to three equivalent Mg2+ and one B3+ atom. In the sixth O2- site, O2- is bonded to two equivalent Mg2+, one B3+, and one H1+ atom to form distorted corner-sharing OMg2BH trigonal pyramids.

Materials Data on MgB3H15O13 by Materials Project

MgB3H13O12H2O crystallizes in the triclinic P-1 space group. The structure is one-dimensional and consists of two water molecules and two MgB3H13O12 ribbons oriented in the (1, 0, 0) direction. In each MgB3H13O12 ribbon, Mg2+ is bonded to six O2- atoms to form MgO6 octahedra that share corners with two equivalent BO4 tetrahedra. There are a spread of Mg–O bond distances ranging from 2.02–2.17 Å. There are three inequivalent B3+ sites. In the first B3+ site, B3+ is bonded in a trigonal planar geometry to three O2- atoms. All B–O bond lengths are 1.38 Å. In the second B3+ site, B3+ is bonded to four O2- atoms to form corner-sharing BO4 tetrahedra. There are a spread of B–O bond distances ranging from 1.47–1.50 Å. In the third B3+ site, B3+ is bonded to four O2- atoms to form BO4 tetrahedra that share corners with two equivalent MgO6 octahedra and a cornercorner with one BO4 tetrahedra. The corner-sharing octahedra tilt angles range from 40–44°. There are a spread of B–O bond distances ranging from 1.46–1.53 Å. There are thirteen inequivalent H1+ sites. In the first H1+ site, H1+ is bonded in a single-bond geometry to one O2- atom. The H–O bond length is 1.00 Å. In the second H1+ site, H1+ is bonded in a single-bond geometry to one O2- atom. The H–O bond length is 0.98 Å. In the third H1+ site, H1+ is bonded in a single-bond geometry to one O2- atom. The H–O bond length is 1.00 Å. MgB4H16O15H2O crystallizes in the triclinic P-1 space group. The structure is zero-dimensional and consists of two water molecules and one MgB4H16O15 cluster. In the MgB4H16O15 cluster, Mg2+ is bonded to six O2- atoms to form MgO6 octahedra that share a cornercorner with one BO4 tetrahedra. There are a spread of Mg–O bond distances ranging from 2.08–2.18 Å. There are four inequivalent B3+ sites. In the first B3+ site, B3+ is bonded to four O2- atoms to form BO4 tetrahedra that share a cornercorner with one MgO6 octahedra and a cornercorner with one BO4 tetrahedra. The corner-sharing octahedral tilt angles are 44°. There are a spread of B–O bond distances ranging from 1.46–1.52 Å. In the second B3+ site, B3+ is bonded in a trigonal planar geometry to three O2- atoms. All B–O bond lengths are 1.38 Å. Mg3B(HO2)3 crystallizes in the hexagonal P6_3/m space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Mg2+ is bonded to six O2- atoms to form a mixture of edge and corner-sharing MgO6 octahedra. The corner-sharing octahedral tilt angles are 58°. There are a spread of Mg–O bond distances ranging from 2.07–2.17 Å. B3+ is bonded in a trigonal planar geometry to three equivalent O2- atoms. All B–O bond lengths are 1.40 Å. H1+ is bonded in a single-bond geometry to one O2- atom. The H–O bond length is 0.97 Å. There are two inequivalent O2- sites. In the first O2- site, O2- is bonded in a distorted rectangular see-saw-like geometry to three equivalent Mg2+ and one B3+ atom. In the second O2- site, O2- is bonded in a distorted single-bond geometry to three equivalent Mg2+ and one H1+ atom.

The corner-sharing octahedra tilt angles range from 50–57°. There are a spread of B–O bond distances ranging from 1.46–1.52 Å. Materials Data on Mg2B12H24O35 by Materials Project

(MgB6H9O16)2(H2O)3 crystallizes in the trigonal R-3c space group. The structure is zero-dimensional and consists of eighteen water molecules and twelve MgB6H9O16 clusters. In each MgB6H9O16 cluster, Mg is bonded to six O atoms to form MgO6 octahedra that share corners with three equivalent BO4 tetrahedra. There are three shorter (2.08 Å) and three longer (2.12 Å) Mg–O bond lengths. There are two inequivalent B sites. In the first B site, B is bonded to four O atoms to form BO4 tetrahedra that share a cornercorner with one MgO6 octahedra and corners with two equivalent BO4 tetrahedra. The corner-sharing octahedral tilt angles are 60°. There are a spread of B–O bond distances ranging from 1.46–1.53 Å. In the second B site, B is bonded in a trigonal planar geometry to three O atoms. There is one shorter (1.37 Å) and two longer (1.38 Å) B–O bond length. There are three inequivalent H sites. In the first H site, H is bonded in a single-bond geometry to one O atom. The H–O bond length is 1.00 Å. In the second H site, H is bonded in a single-bond geometry to one O atom. The H–O bond length is 0.99 Å. In the third H site, H is bonded in a single-bond geometry to one O atom. The H–O bond length is 0.98 Å. There are six inequivalent O sites. Mg(H2O)6MgB12(H6O13)2 crystallizes in the monoclinic P2_1/c space group. The structure is two-dimensional and consists of two magnesium;hexahydrate molecules and one MgB12(H6O13)2 sheet oriented in the (1, 0, 0) direction. In the MgB12(H6O13)2 sheet, Mg2+ is bonded to six O2- atoms to form MgO6 octahedra that share corners with six BO4 tetrahedra. There are a spread of Mg–O bond distances ranging from 2.04–2.18 Å. There are six inequivalent B3+ sites. In the first B3+ site, B3+ is bonded to four O2- atoms to form BO4 tetrahedra that share a cornercorner with one MgO6 octahedra and corners with two BO4 tetrahedra. The corner-sharing octahedral tilt angles are 64°. There are a spread of B–O bond distances ranging from 1.45–1.53 Å. In the second B3+ site, B3+ is bonded to four O2- atoms to form BO4 tetrahedra that share a cornercorner with one MgO6 octahedra and corners with two BO4 tetrahedra.
