Materials Data on TaCrB4 by Materials Project

TaCrB4 is hexagonal omega structure-derived structured and crystallizes in the hexagonal P6/mmm space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Ta3+ is bonded to twelve equivalent B+1.50- atoms to form TaB12 cuboctahedra that share edges with twelve equivalent CrB12 cuboctahedra, faces with two equivalent CrB12 cuboctahedra, and faces with six equivalent TaB12 cuboctahedra. All Ta–B bond lengths are 2.42 Å. Cr3+ is bonded to twelve equivalent B+1.50- atoms to form CrB12 cuboctahedra that share edges with twelve equivalent TaB12 cuboctahedra, faces with two equivalent TaB12 cuboctahedra, and faces with six equivalent CrB12 cuboctahedra. All Cr–B bond lengths are 2.29 Å. B+1.50- is bonded in a 9-coordinate geometry to three equivalent Ta3+, three equivalent Cr3+, and three equivalent B+1.50- atoms. All B–B bond lengths are 1.77 Å.

Materials Data on Ta2CrB2 by Materials Project

Ta2CrB2 crystallizes in the tetragonal P4/mbm space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Ta is bonded in a 6-coordinate geometry to six equivalent B atoms. There are two shorter (2.38 Å) and four longer (2.41 Å) Ta–B bond lengths. Cr is bonded in a distorted square co-planar geometry to four equivalent B atoms. All Cr–B bond lengths are 2.39 Å. B is bonded in a 9-coordinate geometry to six equivalent Ta, two equivalent Cr, and one B atom. The B–B bond length is 1.89 Å.
