Annual Technology Baseline: The 2022 Transportation Update [Slides]

The Transportation Annual Technology Baseline (ATB) provides detailed cost and performance data, estimates, and assumptions for vehicle and fuel technologies in the United States. It includes current and projected estimates for vehicle technologies as well as conventional and alternative fuels, and it details the assumptions used to calculate those costs, such as gas and electricity prices, discount rates, and vehicle miles traveled. The 2022 update added more classes of light-duty vehicles, medium and heavy-duty vehicles, an aviation page, and it aligned diesel pathways with aviation pathways.

Annual Technology Baseline (ATB): The 2024 Transportation Update

The Transportation Annual Technology Baseline (ATB) provides detailed cost and performance data, estimates, and assumptions for vehicle and fuel technologies in the United States. It includes current and projected estimates for vehicle technologies as well as fuels, and it details the assumptions used to calculate those costs, such as gas and electricity prices, discount rates, and vehicle miles traveled. The 2024 update added more biofuels pathways to align with pathways used in the Biomass Scenario Model.

Annual Technology Baseline: ATB-calc Open Source Tools [Slides]

The Annual Technology Baseline (ATB) team will introduce the new open-source Python tools for processing and interacting with electricity ATB data and provide helpful user demonstrations, including how to: extract data from the ATB workbook and calculate levelized cost of electricity (LCOE) in Python; programmatically interact with and modify ATB data; and use the tools to modify the tax credit assumptions of the ATB to account for bonus credits from the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022.

2022 Annual Technology Baseline (ATB) Cost and Performance Data for Transportation Technologies

The 2022 Transportation Annual Technology Baseline (ATB) provides detailed cost and performance data, estimates, and assumptions for vehicle and fuel technologies in the United States. It includes current and projected estimates: time-series through 2050 for light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicle technologies; scenarios for conventional and alternative fuels. It details the assumptions used to calculate those costs, such as natural gas and electricity prices, discount rates, and vehicle miles traveled. The 2022 Transportation ATB vehicle data are specifically for cars powered by gasoline, diesel, natural gas, gasoline hybrid, plug-in hybrid, battery electric, and fuel-cell powertrains and for trucks powered by diesel, diesel hybrid, plug-in hybrid, battery electric, and fuel cell powertrains. Fuels and blendstocks include gasoline, ethanol, blendstock for oxygenate blending, diesel, diesel from biomass, natural gas, electricity, hydrogen, aviation fuel, and marine fuel. At this time, the ATB does not include other vehicles such as buses, 2- and 3-wheeled motorized vehicles, or non-road vehicles such as aircraft, vessels, locomotives, and those for industry and agriculture. 2020 Annual Technology Baseline (ATB) Cost and Performance Data for Transportation Technologies

The 2020 Transportation Annual Technology Baseline (ATB) provides detailed cost and performance data, estimates, and assumptions for vehicle and fuel technologies in the United States. The Transportation ATB includes current and projected estimates through 2050 for light-duty vehicle technologies as well as conventional and alternative fuels. This excel files include vehicle, fuel, and joined vehicle and fuel data with calculated levelized cost and emission values associated with the 2020 Transportation ATB. NREL has also provided a Tableau workbook to further explore the data. A website documents this data at https://atb.nlr.gov .

ATB-calc (Annual Technology Baseline Calculators) [SWR-23-60]

This software is a suite of Python files and Jupyter notebooks supporting the calculation of cost and financial parameters for the Annual Technology Baseline (ATB) electricity data, including capital expenditures, levelized cost of energy, and debt fractions using the ATB input data.

2021 Annual Technology Baseline (ATB) Cost and Performance Data for Electricity Generation Technologies

Starting in 2015 NREL has presented the Annual Technology Baseline (ATB) in an Excel workbook that contains detailed cost and performance data, both current and projected, for renewable and conventional technologies. The workbook includes a spreadsheet for each technology. This version of the workbook provides the final updates to data for the 2021 ATB. In 2019 and 2020, NREL has also provided selected data in Tableau workbooks and structured summary csv files. The data for 2015 - 2020 is located on https://data.nrel.gov. In 2021 and going forward, the data is cloud optimized and provided in the OEDI data lake. A website documents this and future data at https://atb.nrel.gov.
