Materials Data on AlPb3 by Materials Project
AlPb3 crystallizes in the tetragonal I4/mmm space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Al is bonded in a 12-coordinate geometry to four equivalent Pb atoms. All Al–Pb bond lengths are 3.41 Å. There are two inequivalent Pb sites. In the first Pb site, Pb is bonded in a 12-coordinate geometry to four equivalent Pb atoms. All Pb–Pb bond lengths are 3.48 Å. In the second Pb site, Pb is bonded to four equivalent Al and eight equivalent Pb atoms to form a mixture of distorted edge, face, and corner-sharing PbAl4Pb8 cuboctahedra.
