Materials Data on Al2B3HO8 by Materials Project

Al2B3HO8 crystallizes in the orthorhombic Pnma space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Al3+ is bonded to five O2- atoms to form distorted edge-sharing AlO5 trigonal bipyramids. There are a spread of Al–O bond distances ranging from 1.76–1.90 Å. There are two inequivalent B3+ sites. In the first B3+ site, B3+ is bonded in a trigonal planar geometry to three O2- atoms. There is one shorter (1.37 Å) and two longer (1.38 Å) B–O bond length. In the second B3+ site, B3+ is bonded in a trigonal planar geometry to three O2- atoms. There is one shorter (1.34 Å) and two longer (1.40 Å) B–O bond length. H1+ is bonded in a single-bond geometry to one O2- atom. The H–O bond length is 0.98 Å. There are five inequivalent O2- sites. In the first O2- site, O2- is bonded in a bent 120 degrees geometry to two B3+ atoms. In the second O2- site, O2- is bonded in a distorted trigonal planar geometry to two equivalent Al3+ and one B3+ atom. In the third O2- site, O2- is bonded in a bent 150 degrees geometry to one Al3+ and one B3+ atom. In the fourth O2- site, O2- is bonded in a distorted trigonal planar geometry to two equivalent Al3+ and one H1+ atom. In the fifth O2- site, O2- is bonded in a distorted trigonal planar geometry to two equivalent Al3+ and one B3+ atom.
