SESAME: ASCII2 File Format

A new ASCII format for SESAME data is explicitly defined and dubbed ASCII2. This format fixes some of the onerous limitations of the legacy ASCII-styled format in addition to relaxing the FORTRAN style fixed-format layout of data tables. With the exception of the multi-tiered indexes of the legacy binary format, the new ASCII2 is more compatible with the binary in that it does not restrict the extent of various integer data (e.g., SESAME material and table numbers) to six digits nor does it restrict the extent or precision of the various floating point data. There will be very limited support of the legacy ASCII-styled formats in the future.

Processing MCNP Elemental Edit Outputs

The Monte Carlo N-Particle (MCNP) transport code version 6 (also known as MCNP6) has the capability for tracking particles on unstructured mesh (UM) geometry models embedded into constructive solid geometry (CSG) cells. A UM geometry is a collection of elements representing a solid geometry. The first step of MCNP UM modeling is using other software packages to create a finite element mesh representation of a solid 3D geometry. Computer-aided design (CAD) or computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) software is typically used to create a solid geometry model, which is later imported into mesh generation software to create a UM model. The MCNP UM feature was originally designed for models generated by the Abaqus/CAE software. The MCNP code version 6.0 and later can process UM models formatted as Abaqus input files. MCNP can process a UM model consisting of several different element types including linear tetrahedral or hexahedral elements and calculate quantities of interest such as flux and energy deposition at elements. An MCNP UM simulation provides high-fidelity elemental edit (i.e., tally) outputs, which can be further used in multiphysics calculations. The MCNP UM feature was used for multiphysics simulations where quantities of interest calculated by MCNP are used as inputs for heat transfer calculations in Abaqus. MCNP6.3 can produce two types of elemental edit output (EEOUT) file formats: ASCII and HDF5. An EEOUT file type must be requested on an EMBED card while output type (flux or energy deposition) must be requested on an EMBEE card. We wrote Python3 scripts to extract energy deposition values in an ASCII or HDF5 EEOUT file and compute a heat flux profile for an Abaqus heat transfer calculation.

Nuclear β − -decay with statistical de-excitation

he accurate description of nuclear β − -decay has far-reaching consequences for applications spanning nuclear reactors to the creation of heavy elements in astrophysical environments. We present the nuclear particle spectra associated with the β -decay of neutron-rich nuclei calculated with the well benchmarked coupled Quasi-particle Random Phase Approximation and Hauser–Feshbach (QRPA+HF) model. This approach begins with the population of the daughter nucleus via semi-microscopic Gamow-Teller or First-Forbidden strength distributions (QRPA) and follows the statistical de-excitation (HF) until the initial available excitation energy is exhausted. At each stage of de-excitation the emission by neutrons and $γ$-rays is considered obeying quantum mechanical selection rules. For completeness we also provide parsed Auger and Internal Conversion (IC) electron spectra from Evaluated Nuclear Data Files (ENDF). Our results are tabulated and provided in parsable ASCII formatted tables that are suitable for inclusion in various applications.

SpectraCodec: A Hilbert curve-based method for encoding metadata in mass spectra for machine learning applications (SpectraCodec) v1

Machine learning approaches to mass spectrometry (MS) data analysis require structured metadata for optimal performance. However, current MS file formats necessitate external metadata sources, creating integration challenges that impede analytical workflows. Here, we present a novel approach for encoding metadata directly within mzML files using one-hot encoding of ASCII characters mapped via Hilbert space-filling curves. This strategy embeds metadata in the first spectrum's m/z-intensity space, ensuring persistence with the primary data, eliminating the need for external metadata files, and maintaining compatibility with existing MS software. We demonstrate that the Hilbert curve mapping efficiently utilizes the two-dimensional spectral space while maintaining robust data recovery. This method offers a practical solution for machine learning applications in mass spectrometry by ensuring metadata and spectral data remain unified through all stages of analysis.

The raw GNSS data were collected between May 2022 and August 2023. Other processed datasets such as tree sway motion and ET data are also included. The goal was to study the water content within a subalpine forest and, more specifically, examine the canopy evaporation process. This data archive includes all data that were used within the following Biogeosciences discussion paper that further summarizes the research objectives and conclusions:Burns, S.P., V. Humphrey, E.D. Gutmann, M.S. Raleigh, D.R. Bowling, and P.D. Blanken, 2025: Using GNSS-based vegetation optical depth, tree sway motion, and eddy-covariance to examine evaporation of canopy-intercepted rainfall in a subalpine forest. EGUsphere [preprint],https://doi.org/10.5194/egusphere-2025-1755This data archive also supplements the 30-min Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) AmeriFlux dataset for US-NR1 (i.e., https://doi.org/10.17190/AMF/1246088) and updates what was in the 2020 ESS-DIVE US-NR1 archive (https://doi.org/10.15485/1671825) to include data from the years 2020-2025. More specifically, the following updates are provided: (i) five-minute statistics (means, variances, covariances) of all data measured by the US-NR1 data system between Sep 2020 and Jun 2025 in netCDF format, (ii) the electronic logbook of US-NR1 site visits, (iii) a web calendar (in HTML format) documenting activity at the site (a replica of https://urquell.colorado.edu/calendar/), (iv) photos taken at the site between years 2020 and present day (Aug 2025), and (v) several auxiliary datasets, primary related to trees near the site, soil properties, soil moisture and soil temperature, and subcanopy radiation data. The data package is setup so that the web calendar, photos, and electronic logbook can be easily accessed on a local computer using a web browser. The provided data files are in either BINEX or SBF format (for the raw GNSS data), netCDF, CSV, ASCII, or MATLAB format. To obtain a better understanding about the archive, please start by reading the following PDF which is included within the data archive:README_ESS_DIVE_USNR1_2025_readme_first.pdf.

Remote Instrumentation and Data Acquisition

This poster outlines the development and implementation of a remote data acquisition system for waveform analysis using a Rohde & Schwarz oscilloscope. The project involved capturing waveform data, and transferring it to a local machine for visualization and analysis. The core logic was developed in C++ with a focus on object oriented programming and the use of polymorphism so the main application can interact with any instrument without knowing its exact type, simplifying the overall logic and making it easier to add or swap out components without changing the rest of the codebase.. The system issues Standard Commands for Programmable Instruments (SCPI) via a socket connection and parses the oscilloscope s ASCII waveform data. The C++ application was containerized using Docker for ease of portability, and reproducibility. Emphasis was placed on secure networking practices, error handling, and effective data capture. The report describes the technical steps taken, challenges encountered, and future work, providing insight into the practical integration of hardware interfacing with remote computational environments.

QPatLib v1.0 — Measurement-based quantum simulation Pauli string unitary pattern collections

This Zenodo record accompanies the paper “Scalable Measurement-Based Quantum Simulation Patterns for Benchmarking” arXiv.2605.12502 and provides QPatLib v1.0 measurement-pattern datasets in human-readable JSONL together with a ZIP archive of OpenQASM 3.0 circuits used for validation and reproducibility. The patterns and circuits implement Pauli string unitaries for benchmark cases. Cases include all possible string combinations for less than 6 qubits and strings used in Hamiltonians for certain diatomic molecules for 6 or more qubits. Format: Each pattern_*.jsonl file is containins measurement patterns for all subsets for a given model/instance and subset strategy: it begins with a preamble containing model metadata, subset definitions, provenance, and (when feasible) full-pattern test results, followed by one pattern entry per subset. Each subset entry includes a required pattern_ascii field storing the measurement pattern in the measurement-calculus/Graphix standard with signal shifting, written left-to-right in the canonical order nodes → edges → measurements (with signal dependencies) → byproduct corrections (X/Z). The circuits are included as circuit_files.zip. Patterns in this record were validated against the corresponding circuits and checked for causal flow. Codes for generating these patterns can be found at QPatLib repository on Github
