Parallel-gap welding for joints between copper conductors and Kovar

Welding technique produces more reliable joints than soldering. Investigation used different sizes of copper conductors and component lead ribbons, corrosion protection platings, and melting points of metals being joined. Optimum combination is gold-plated component lead ribbons and solder-plated copper conductors.

Analysis of parallel systems.

A formal analysis procedure for hardware and software computer systems is described. A system is described by a flow table model. The concept of an output hazard is introduced to account for effects of unbounded line delays. Necessary and sufficient conditions for the absence of output hazards are given. A system that contains no output hazards is said to operate correctly if the system state graph that describes all system states and state transitions is free from forbidden states and forbidden state sequences. A flow table solution for the two-component mutual exclusion problem is analyzed and shown to be correct.

Space shuttle: Aerodynamic characteristics of various MDAC space shuttle ascent configurations with parallel burn pressure-fed and SRM boosters. Volume 1: Tanks T1 and T2 ascent configurations

Various space shuttle ascent configurations were tested in a trisonic wind tunnel to determine the aerodynamic characteristics. The ascent configuration consisted of a NASA/MSC 040 orbiter in combination with various HO centerline tank and booster geometries. The aerodynamic interference between components of the space shuttle and the effect on the orbiter aerodynamics was determined. The various aerodynamic configurations tested were: (1) centerline HO tanks T1 and T2, (2) centerline HO tank T3, and (3) centerline HO tank H4.

Effects of propagation parallel to the magnetic field on the type 1 electrojet irregularity instability

A simple analysis is presented which indicates that Type 1 irregularities which have a slight component of propagation along the magnetic field may be more unstable than those which propagate across the field. It was found that significant irregularity amplitudes may occur at the northern or southern extremities of the equatorial electrojet from those modes with large north-south group velocity, and they could significantly change our understanding of nonlinear solutions of the electrojet instability.
