Straightforward relationships between Weinstock's (1969) propagator, U sub A, the Vlasov propagator, U, and the ensemble average Vlasov propagator, U (in carets) are derived. It is shown that U and U (in carets) are related to the characteristic trajectories of the Vlasov equation, and that U (in carets) can be related to various statistical correlations of the turbulent fields.
An equation of state is developed for metals in the high-pressure high-temperature region that can be extended in a thermodynamically consistent manner to the vapor phase. The constants are obtained from observed thermodynamic properties and are specified for Al, Fe, Cu, Ni, Pb, and W. This equation of state was checked against experimental data by computing the Hugoniot curves for normal and porous samples for cases where experimental data are available. Also, the velocity of sound and release isentropes were computed for various shock conditions.
Fiberglass is wound in three winding and cure sequences with first two followed by grit blasting of surface before final step. Result is uniformly stressed metal liner assembly with excellent structural characteristics.
The class of plasma processes for which the so-called Vlasov approximation is inadequate is investigated. Results from the equilibrium statistical mechanics of two-dimensional plasmas are derived. These results are independent of the presence of an external dc magnetic field. The nonequilibrium statistical mechanics of the electrostatic guiding-center plasma, a two-dimensional plasma model, is discussed. This model is then generalized to three dimensions. The guiding-center model is relaxed to include finite Larmor radius effects for a two-dimensional plasma.
Asymmetrical crater shadings and diffuse light and dark streaks visible on the photography returned by the 1969 Mars flyby of Mariners 6 and 7 are probably eolian in origin. Wind directions inferred from mapping of these features parallel motions of observed global dust storms or relate to expected patterns of topographic funneling of winds.
