Baseline vs. DER Scenario

Projections and associated uncertainty estimates are generated for a variety of user-selectable EV charging sessions, electricity tariffs, subsidy levels, revenue schemes, charging station configurations, and on-site solar and/or storage options. The outputs are presented in CHIP's web portal browser in the form of easily interpretable graphics (interactive graphs and bar charts) that facilitate convenient comparison among different scenarios to aid decision-making. The user should bring assumptions for modeling on simulation planning horizon, number of EV charging sessions per year, electricity costs (energy and demand charge rates; flat versus time-of-use rate), site capital costs (equipment for EV chargers and transformer), solar PV, and battery energy storage (kW).

Simple scale interpolator facilitates reading of graphs

Set of cards with scale divisions and a scale finder permits accurate reading of the coordinates of points on linear or logarithmic graphs plotted on rectangular grids. The set contains 34 different scales for linear plotting and 28 single cycle scales for log plots.

Mechanisms of oxidation in the Co-Cr system.

Oxidation has been studied both as a function of temperature in the range from 900 to 1300 C and of the partial pressure of oxygen in the range from 0.05 to 760 torr. In addition, microstructures of oxide scales have been studied and characterized in more detail utilizing metallographic and X-ray techniques combined with electron microprobe analysis. The parabolic rate constants in 1100 C and at 100 and 10 torr oxygen are presented in a graph as a function of chromium content. Three main different mechanisms of oxidation in the Co-Cr system have been identified. In two of these, the rate determining process controlling the oxidation is the solid state diffusion of cobalt through the oxide CoO. The rate controlling process governing the oxidation for the third mechanism is chromium diffusion in dichromium trioxide.

On the tidal effects in the motion of artificial satellites.

The general perturbations in the elliptic and vectorial elements of a satellite as caused by the tidal deformations of the non-spherical Earth are developed into trigonometric series in the standard ecliptical arguments of Hill-Brown lunar theory and in the equatorial elements of the satellite. The integration of the differential equations for variation of elements of the satellite in this theory is easy because all arguments are linear or nearly linear in time. The trigonometrical expansion permits a judgment about the relative significance of the amplitudes and periods of different tidal 'waves' over a long period of time. Graphs are presented of the tidal perturbations in the elliptic elements of the BE-C satellite which illustrate long term periodic behavior. The tidal effects are clearly noticeable in the observations and their comparison with the theory permits improvement of the 'global' Love numbers for the Earth.

The dynamics and control of large flexible space structures, 6

The controls analysis based on a truncated finite element model of the 122m. Hoop/Column Antenna System focuses on an analysis of the controllability as well as the synthesis of control laws. Graph theoretic techniques are employed to consider controllability for different combinations of number and locations of actuators. Control law synthesis is based on an application of the linear regulator theory as well as pole placement techniques. Placement of an actuator on the hoop can result in a noticeable improvement in the transient characteristics. The problem of orientation and shape control of an orbiting flexible beam, previously examined, is now extended to include the influence of solar radiation environmental forces. For extremely flexible thin structures modification of control laws may be required and techniques for accomplishing this are explained. Effects of environmental torques are also included in previously developed models of orbiting flexible thin platforms.
