NTWO - A nitrogen-properties package

NTWO as FORTRAN 4 family of subroutines developed on 7094-7044 system for determining thermodynamic and transport properties of nitrogen

Hendricks, R. C.↗

Significance arithmetic experimental package (SIGPAC)

Method for use by computing facility to determine accuracy of computer calculations is presented. Primary goals of error analysis program are described. Program is designed for both FORTRAN 4 and ASSEMBLER for use with IBM 360 computer.

Supporting data package for TR 32-1541, effects of storage temperatures on silicon solar cell contacts

A series of summary curves is presented for cells having various contact systems, depicting the effects of temperature exposure as a function of time on the electrical and mechanical characteristics. Each curve represents the results obtained from a minimum of 32 and a maximum of 1104 individual data inputs and includes the 95% confidence limits associated with each time-temperature combination for which measurements were obtained. The curves are useful for detailed analysis and comparison of the behavior of the contact system as a function of the environmental conditions studied.

FORMAC integration program: A special applications package used in developing techniques of orbital decay and long term ephemeris prediction for satellites in earth orbit

The symbolic manipulation capabilities of the FORMAC (Formula Manipulation Compiler) language are employed to expand and analytically evaluate integrals. The program integration is effected by expanding the integral(s) into a series of subintegrals and then substituting a pre-derived and pre-coded solution for that particular subintegral. Derivation of the integral solutions necessary for precoding is included, as is a discussion of the FORMAC system limitations encountered in the programming effort.

An improved multiple linear regression and data analysis computer program package

NEWRAP, an improved version of a previous multiple linear regression program called RAPIER, CREDUC, and CRSPLT, allows for a complete regression analysis including cross plots of the independent and dependent variables, correlation coefficients, regression coefficients, analysis of variance tables, t-statistics and their probability levels, rejection of independent variables, plots of residuals against the independent and dependent variables, and a canonical reduction of quadratic response functions useful in optimum seeking experimentation. A major improvement over RAPIER is that all regression calculations are done in double precision arithmetic.

Apollo lunar surface experiments package

Developments in the ALSEP program are reported. A summary of the status for the total ALSEP program is included. Other areas discussed include: (1) status of Apollo 16 (array D) and Apollo 17 (array E), (2) lunar seismic profiling experiment, (3) lunar ejecta and meteorites experiment, and (4) lunar mass spectrometer experiments.

The GENREL teletype package

A collection is presented of programs designed specifically for use on a teletype (or similar conversational time-sharing terminal). The criteria for designing these programs are given, and a description of each program is included.

Balloon-borne package temperature controller

Simple, inexpensive, lightweight enclosure traps upward long wave radiation of earth while reflecting harsh solar radiation in upper atmosphere. It warms enclosed instruments in cold regions and protects them from overheating during the day. Device can be attached to balloon system without any changes in experimental design.

Apollo lunar surface experiments package

The ALSEP program status and monthly progress are reported. Environmental and quality control tests and test results are described. Details are given on the Apollo 17 Array E, and the lunar seismic profiling, ejecta and meteorites, mass spectrometer, surface gravimeter, and heat flow experiments. Monitoring of the four ALSEP systems on the moon is also described.

Thermal Control of the Scientific Instrument Package in the Large Space Telescope

The general thermal control system philosophy was to utilize passive control where feasible and to utilize active methods only where required for more accurate thermal control of the SIP components with narrow temperature tolerances. A thermal model of the SIP and a concept for cooling the SIP cameras are presented. The model and cooling concept have established a rationale for determining a Phase A baseline for SIP thermal control.

The earth resources experiment package on Skylab and proposed resource investigations.

In late 1973, NASA plans to launch a three-man experimental space station, the Skylab Workshop. Technical specifications regarding the instrumental facilities of the space station are presented, giving attention to the multispectral photographic facility, the IR spectrometer, the multispectral scanner, the L-band radiometer, and the S-193 sensor. The S-193 sensor will provide data applicable to studying varying ocean surfaces, wave conditions, sea and lake ice, ocean clouds, weather prediction, and soil types. All data from the sensors will be recorded on film and analog magnetic tape for return at the end of each manned period of Skylab.
