Assessment of Prognostic Value of High-Sensitivity Cardiac Troponin T for Early Prediction of Chemoradiation Therapy-Induced Cardiotoxicity in Patients with Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer: A Secondary Analysis of a Prospective Randomized Trial

Cardiotoxicities induced by cancer therapy can negatively affect quality of life and survival. We investigated whether high-sensitivity cardiac troponin T (hs-cTnT) levels could serve as biomarker for early detection of cardiac adverse events (CAEs) after chemoradiation therapy (CRT) for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).

Patient-Reported Outcomes in the Acute Phase of the Randomized Hypofractionated Irradiation for Prostate Cancer (HYPRO) Trial

Many patients experience bowel and bladder toxicity during the acute phase of radiation therapy for prostate cancer. Recent literature indicates that hypofractionation (HF) might increase this acute response but little is known on patient-reported outcome during this phase with HF. We evaluated the course of patient-reported acute symptoms during HF versus standard fractionated (SF) radiation therapy within the hypofractionated irradiation for prostate cancer (HYPRO) trial.

Randomized Phase 3, Double-blind, Placebo-controlled Study of Prophylactic Gabapentin for the Reduction of Oral Mucositis Pain During the Treatment of Oropharyngeal Squamous Cell Carcinoma

The purpose of this paper is to determine whether prophylactic gabapentin usage in patients undergoing definitive concurrent chemotherapy and radiation therapy (chemoRT) for oropharyngeal cancer (OPC) improves treatment-related oral mucositis pain, opioid use, and feeding tube (FT) placement.

Heterogeneity in own-price residential customer demand elasticities for electricity under time-of-use rates: Evidence from a randomized-control trial in the United States

Regulators, policymakers, and stakeholders in several states have raised concerns about the price elasticity of residential customers’ electricity demand, especially as related to different customer subpopulations, management of critical end-uses, and enrollment approaches. This analysis sought to quantify the diversity of residential customer price elasticity in a time-of-use rate across these different dimensions using data generated from a utility pricing experiment. Finally, customers were found to be more elastic during the peak period of critical peak days, who were predicted to own and use air conditioning, and who volunteered for time-of-use (TOU) rates (but those defaulted on were 25% as elastic).

A new efficient grain growth model using a random Gaussian-sampled mode filter

This paper presents the use of a Gaussian neighborhood mode filter for predicting grain growth in a manner similar to the solutions obtained by a Monte Carlo Potts model. This flexible grain growth model can quickly utilize modern, computationally optimized data science strategies on graphics processing units to simulate grain growth up to 100 times faster than the state-of-the-art, publicly available Monte Carlo Potts model. We show that, given the correct neighborhood, the mode filter can replicate normal grain growth in two or three dimensions. In addition, the paper briefly demonstrates the ability to model limited anisotropic in grain boundary energy and mobility. Anisotropic grain boundary energy is modeled by defining a weighted mode filter operation. Anisotropic grain boundary mobility is modeled by scaling and orienting the Gaussian neighborhood in a particular direction.
