We present a comprehensive analysis of the SU(3) octet and decuplet baryon masses and σ terms using high-precision lattice QCD data and chiral SU(3) effective theory with finite range regularization. The effects of various systematic uncertainties, including from the scale setting of the lattice data and the regularization prescriptions, are quantified. We find the pion-nucleon and strange nucleon σ terms to be σ πN = 44(3)(3) MeV and σ Ns = 50(6)(1) MeV, respectively. Furthermore, the results provide constraints on the energy-momentum tensor mass decompositions of the SU(3) octet and decuplet baryons, where we find that the trace anomaly and quark-gluon energies decrease for strange baryons due to their larger strange σ terms.
We observe a narrow peaking structure in the pK - invariant-mass spectrum near the Λη threshold. The peak is clearly seen in 1.5 million events of Λ$^{+}_{c}$ → pK - π + decay using the 980 fb -1 data sample collected by the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e + e - collider. We try two approaches to explain this structure: as a new resonance and as a cusp at the Λη threshold. The best fit is obtained with a coherent sum of a Flatte function and a constant background amplitude with the reduced X 2 of 257/243 (p = 0.25), while the fits to Breit-Wigner functions are unfavored by more than 7σ. The best fit explains the structure as a cusp at the Λη threshold, and the obtained parameters are consistent with the known properties of Λ(1670). The observation gives the first identification of a threshold cusp in hadrons from the spectrum shape.

Using the data sample of 980 fb -1 collected with the Belle detector operating at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e + e - collider, we present the results of an investigation of the Λπ + and Λπ - invariant mass distributions looking for substructure in the decay Λ$^+_c$ → Λπ + π + π - . We find a significant signal in each mass distribution. When interpreted as resonances, we find for the Λπ + (Λπ - ) combination a mass of 1434.3 ± 0.6(stat) ± 0.9(syst) MeV/c 2 [1438.5 ± 0.9(stat) ± 2.5(syst) MeV/c 2 ], an intrinsic width of 11.5 ± 2.8(stat) ± 5.3(syst) MeV/c 2 [33.0 ± 7.5(stat) ± 23.6(syst) MeV/c 2 ] with a significance of 7.5σ (6.2σ). As these two signals are very close to the $\bar{K}N$ threshold, we also investigate the possibility of a $\bar{K}N$ cusp, and find that we cannot discriminate between these two interpretations due to the limited size of the data sample.
