Solar, Wind, and Load Forecasting Dataset for MISO, NYISO, and SPP Balancing Areas

The Performance-based Energy Resource Feedback, Optimization, and Risk Management (PERFORM) program is an initiative intended to foster "a fundamental shift in grid management rooted in an understanding of asset risk and system risk" (ARPA-E 2020). Launched by the Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E), the program supports efforts to incorporate uncertainty in electric power decision making. In support of PERFORM, the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) has produced a set of time-coincident forecasts of solar, wind, and load profiles. As part of Phase I of the PERFORM effort, NREL created a dataset that consists of one year of time-coincident load, wind, and solar actuals and probabilistic forecasts based on data from the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) (Bryce et al. 2023). In Phase II, NREL developed similar datasets for three other U.S. Independent System Operators (ISO): the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO), the New York Independent System Operator (NYISO), and the Southwest Power Pool (SPP).

Community Modeling and Flux Balance Analysis of Synthetic Bacterial Community in MOPS Medium

This narrative was used for the 4-member community modeling using MOPS medium for the bacteria isolated from Populus deltoides (PD). 10 bacterial strains isolated from PD were co-cultured as a synthetic microbial community in MOPS minimal medium. After 15 passages there were 4 members survived in MOPS medium. The genome of each community member was sequenced and uploaded into KBase for genome annotation and metabolic modeling. To simulate the metabolic interactions among the finally surviving community members, the individual metabolic models of each strain were merged into a compartmentalized community model, and then the community model was gapfilled using MOPS medium. The FBA modeling was performed and the metabolites exchange among community members was proposed. The publication by Jia Wang, Dana L. Carper, Leah H. Burdick, Him Shrestha, Manasa Appidi, Paul E. Community Modeling and Flux Balance Analysis of Synthetic Bacterial Community in R2A Medium

This narrative was used for the 3-member community modeling using R2A medium for the bacteria isolated from Populus deltoides (PD). 10 bacteiral strains isolated from PD were co-cultured as a synthetic microbial community in R2A complex medium. After 15 passages, there were 3 members survived in R2A medium. The genome of each community member was sequenced and uploaded into KBase for genome annotation and metabolic modeling. To simulate the metabolic interactions among the finally surviving community members, the individual metabolic models of each strain were merged into a compartmentalized community model, and then the community model was gapfilled using R2A medium. Flight Investigation to Improve the Dynamic Longitudinal Stability and Control-Feel Characteristics of the P-63A-1 Airplane (AAF No. 42-68889) with Closely Balanced Experimental Elevators

Results of flight tests of a control-feel aid presented. This device consisted of a spring and dashpot connected in series between the control stick and airplane structure. The device was tested in combination with an experimental elevator and bobweight which had given unsatisfactory dynamic stability and control-feel characteristics in previous tests. The control-feel aid effected marked improvement in both the control-feel characteristics and the control-feel dynamic longitudinal stability of the airplane.

Wind-Tunnel Investigation of a Rectangular NACA 2212 Airfoil with Semispan Ailerons and with Nonperforated, Balanced Double Split Flaps for Use as Aerodynamic Brakes

Flat-plate flaps with no wing cutouts and flaps having Clark Y sections with corresponding cutouts made in wing were tested for various flap deflections, chord-wise locations, and gaps between flaps and airfoil contour. The drag was slightly lower for wing with airfoil section flaps. Satisfactory aileron effectiveness was obtained with flap gap of 20% wing chord and flap-nose location of 80 percent wing chord behind leading edge. Airflow was smooth and buffeting negligible.
